I can only judge McFree on what I've seen. When he arrived, I advocated giving him a chance to show if he's any good. As it turns out, he's been largely crap. I know we can't have 25 world beaters, but replacing Bodin and Howe with McFree and Tai is like replacing James Bond and Pussy Galore with me and my mum. They really are very poor understudies. Necessity and circumstance doesn't negate the fact that they're not really up to the challenge, so far as they have shown so far.
I'd love for both of them to turn it around and show that the faith shown by some (myself included, I haven't written them off just yet) is justified, I'm just not more than 50:50 that they will.

Matt.

At the end of the day Matt, we all know there not as good as Bodin and Howe. But thats who we have to replace them with. There not the worst players ive seen at Plainmoor and would rather them up top than some rubbish we had in the BSP ect.

Atieno could fill Bodins spot well for a game, hes quick and he can beat players. Hes not the worst replacement, obviously is not as good as Bodin but i would rather someone with some pace to replace Billy.
McPhee, Hes not the quickest we know but neither is Rene. Hes not got the power or strength but can hold a ball up well. and for someone to score quite a few goals last season and his finish on Saturday does show hes not a bad finisher when confidence is up and happy to see him replace Rene.

Condsidering goals are coming from all over the park, having two guys in who will work hard and will want to impress as they now got a chance. We will have a side out who will work there socks off to get the points. Playing Swindon with who ever we got playing will be tough. Just dont think everyone should be to tough on the guys coming in. Would be nice to see McPhee uptop as hes no winger and thats where hes played last few times.

Having just watched the BBC highlights, can someone kindly explain to me how what Rene Howe did was even a foul, let along one deserving of a straight red? All I could see was an Accrington player sliding in to a ball, collecting Rene Howe in the process, and a bunch of rolling around theatrics afterwards from the Accrington player. Sorry, but I'm utterly baffled here.

Pretty simple, he raised his foot and stamped the player over the top of the ball. Straight red, no argument for me.

I just watched it from the highlights, and i have to say it's hard to have a well-informed opinion from the angle of the camera for the tackle. I do think however, you can see that Howe has gone over the ball, which, is invariably a red card. Reckless and foolish.

Disagree. An unavoidable accident.

The ball was already gone before Howe made the challenge, mistimed, unintentional maybe but still a foul.

Agreed, its reckless and like i said elsewhere if a Swindon player does that to one of our players in front of the pop we will all be shouting for a red card.

Hope this is ok with everyone but I think enough time has gone for views to be put across on the match, so topic now moved to the Archive.
