Wow, if you have the Crewe 87 game that is awesome. THAT WAS MY FIRST EVER TUFC MATCH (11), Dad always went to games (since 1955) I wasnt totally into football but he was determined I was going to go to a league match and it wasnt looking good for us then, he felt that might be my last chance as there was a lot more stigma about dropping out of the league then and many truly felt if we went we would never get back. What a day that was, even after about 20 minutes I was going on "Dad, even if we go down can we still keep coming next season" ? I was well and truly hooked. Then came the drama, Bryn the police dog, coming from behind to draw in injury time etc, the elation, the pitch invasion, the fans constantly singing my favorite TUFC song (see bottom of post) the players getting mobbed and chaired, meeting the players at the dressing rooms behind the mini stand (a few had cans of beer in their hand), we must have hung around a good hour after the game. . The following year was a narrow miss on promotion, then the next was wembley 89, then West Ham FA cup 90, then Promotion 91 and so on. I always consider myself really lucky to have been a young lad first supporting Torquay in that era because it was so eventful, dramatic and brilliant for a few years, it really grabbed me in a way possibly that the kids now havent had because they havent really had much to get into with the club.
If you have more archive stuff to put up that would be great, it is lovely to reminisce and look at better times with fondness, it kind of reinvigorates and re-enforces your love for the club and you remember why.
If you are struggling to put pictures up I think there is a tutorial page somewhere for that sort of thing, if not Im sure one of our fantastic admins would help.

Yes the Crewe is up chunky....picture quality is poor but gives a good feeling with the cameraman in the crowd. I've loads more and ill drip feed it all onto my YouTube channel as I get time and also digging it all out...I've been slack and have buts here and there around the house.
This week i will addI *Sharpe In attack* a mutv production on Lee Sharpe with contribution from Jim McNichol dave Thomas and Lee Sharpe himself talking all about his time at torquay united...not sure on copyright on that one but can't see it being a major crime adding it
my YouTube channel is northdevondutchy ...gre

watching the Cardiff game back I'm struck by the physicality of our side!! Bloody Hell!! Caldwell, Impey, Lloyd, Mcnichol, Dawkins... And had forgotten about Alan Pearce who seemed to have a decent game! Some damn fine players stepped into that position that year - Alan Mcloughlin, Sean Haslegrave, Simon Milton... Great times... Would love to see the Swansea game - never seen any footage from that before. great work mate!

I'm having a watch of the Crewe game on and off this evening. I remember the player of the year bit at the beginning very well, I remember seeing Kenny Allen and thinking blimey our goalkeeper looks 50 odd. I even asked my Dad how old footballers usually are because I couldnt believe how old he looked. Good old Kenny, seemed a bit of a character, of which our game is sadly lacking these days.
Is it me or was it better when the players used to run out from behind the mini/family stand?

I remember the Wrexham game well, first match of my first proper season, I was stood with Dad in the grandstand enclosure just in front of where the guy used to film the games, we always watched from there in those days. Wrexham scored first early on, many sighs and groans and someone said here we f***** go again. I can picture Tom kelly running back into the goal to stop the ball, he ended up somehow legs in the air and his feet got tangled in the net. Then we cracked in 6, WOW, I remember as the goals went in the pop singing we want 5, then we want 6, then we want 7, also renditions of nice on Cyril for Cyril Knowles and of course my favorite (see bottom of the post).
Another thing about that game was Paul Shane from Hi De Hi which was popular on BBC at the time was sat up just behind us in the grandstand, I think he was doing something at one of the local theatres, as each goal went in he was actually jumping up and cheering on Torquay.

That Wrexham match is legendary and seemed to herald a new era at United - it coincided with my dad And I deciding to attend regularly and so many exciting un-TUFC like events occurring in such a short space of time...I quickly left the childish support of boyhood idols Liverpool behind and became obsessed with heros who seemed real - have never looked back. That game signalled the dawn of the hope filled years - bit like that edition of Top of the Pops which had the Stone Roses and the Mondays on and heralded the 90s (even though it was 89)
Think it was so much more exciting because things had been so dire previously - oh for some unexpected joy and hope now!!!

What memories of the Final. I was with my father who was 69 at the time - a life long fan. I never thought we'd see Torquay play at Wembley. I still have the flag from the final hanging up on the wall in my garage. Makes me smile every time I go in there.
Thanks for posting the footage. So many memories. Great stuff.
