You say hair splittingly pedantic, but then the devil is in the detail. Imagine my surprise when I went to bed with Robbie Williams and woke up with Robin Williams!

In the guise of Mrs. Doubtfire.. ? =D

I can remember an old news item from somewhere, probably the BBC, stating Lord Hume was in bed with Flo. Should have been Lord Home was in bed with Flu..

Lord Home was/is notable for being the last Prime Minister to hold office while being a member of the House of Lords, so the item could have been correct whichever way it was read..

The sentence was far too short. The poor dear has "anger management issues", in other words he is a thoroughly nasty piece of work. I'm sure he will get plenty of attention from all sorts of barking mad therapists whilst in jail, but within a few days of coming out he will hurt somebody really badly,

Totally agree, 12 referees quit Devon county F.A at the end of last season due , to physical, threats and verbal abuse, with out refs especially at grassroots level their is no football, been told by the pioneer league as I'm U18, that their talking about automatic red cards, heavy fines for clubs, and anything from 1 year to life bans now depending on the nature and number of offences for abuse on the field.

Referees should simply walk off and refuse to allow the match to continue. The clubs are warned by the FA at the start of the season and that warning is passed to all players before the season starts. The referee reiterates that warning before kick off - Any verbal abuse is a red card. Call me a ****, a prick, a bastard, a cheat or anything else that you wouldn't call your mother/priest and you're off. I don't care if we finish the game at three per side, you're off. Any physical abuse or threats thereof will see the match abandoned and a report filed with the FA. The player responsible will be hauled before the FA and if found guilty, will be banned for 2 years. The club will be fined £5000 (with the first team manager liable if the club can't pay). This is for a first offence. Any subsequent offences will be a lifetime ban from all football for the player and the termination of the registration of the club.
Referees will be given the power simply to halt the match and walk off if they are subjected to abuse. Once the local clubs realise that they aren't going to get away with it, then they'll stop doing it. Football, like everything, has gone soft and players are happy to take the piss.

Draconian yes, but it'll work. If you were threatened with the sack if you turned up late, by so much as 30 seconds, even once, would you leave earlier? Yes, you would. Same applies here, if you're threatened with grossly disproportionate penalties, then you'll either stop doing it, or continue to do it and be forced from the game. Your choice, dickhead.

Matt.
