Does anyone know the latest with our training ground? We used to train at the Racecourse, which probably wasn't ideal, but was never heavily criticised by any of our previous managers. We've now spent £200k on building a new training ground, which every manager we've had this season has now criticised. How have we managed to spend this money and seemingly made it worse for ourselves? I know there was a lot of work done levelling the ground and making the drainage better, is that going to improve in the future or have we just wasted this money?

You'll struggle to find anywhere that I've demanded he spoke out. Personally I don't see any benefit if all you're going to do is complain.

It does seem he's happy to comment after victories and not so keen after defeats though. ;-)

Why? This is a forum for airing views. Whether you agree with the opinions of others or think their views are unwarranted why does anyone need to keep silent? If we all took that stance we'd be supporting Roberts FC in the South Devon league.

I agree with Dave. There's some inference on here that I'm stupid cos I was piSSed off waiting around at Southend for our manager to fulfill his contractual agreement with the local radio station. I'm not actually that stupid, maybe slightly cabbage -looking (still trying to get the fancy dress sorted for Saturday) but I sure as hell am entitled to an opinion. See that word 'contractual' above ? Sometimes a position of authority carries more with it than just being able to take charge of a situation (to a lesser or a greater result, obviously); it's called taking the rough with the smooth if you happen not to like the contract in its entireity !

On a separate issue, where do the BBC get their stats from?

According to the bit at the side we've won six and drawn eight of CH's first 20 games, which didn't sound right. Just checked and I make it six wins and one draw, which is considerably worse.

If you read what I said, you will see that I just asked for people to THINK before they added more vitriol to what has already been said. I didn't ask them to keep silent, just to reflect a bit before they heaped even more criticism onto CH. If, after thinking a bit, they still want it say it, then fine, say it. It seems that some folk just write what the little fairy in their head tells them to, without thinking. The problem is that CH is now condemned for speaking, not speaking, the content of what he said, what he didn't say, just condemned. Asking people to think about what they say before they say it is hardly a crime, but I guess I now stand condemned too.

That's the problem, 200k spent and they didn't improve the drainage enough, all in here.....http://www.torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/G ... story.html.

I often agree with what you say, but here, the problem is, you will always get two sets of people that think differently, some will never be happy unless the manager speaks, others personally don't care whether he does or not. Rather than asking forum posters to think before they speak, I would ask CH to think before he speaks personally, can't imagine this latest interview is going to go down well with the club to be honest, you have the manager of Torquay United coming out in "public" pretty much admitting he knew the club was short of money, but in reality it's actually worse than that , at some clubs that would be a sacking offence on it's own, and some thing no manager should do.

As for forum posters airing their views as long as you haven't got someone on minute slagging of the manager for not speaking and the next slagging him for speaking, I don't see the problem.

You make too many assumptions. You assume people don't think before posting and now you're assuming I didn't read your post. Perhaps you're failing to realise the posts you refer to are just representative of a fanbase with differing opinions...... Just a thought ;-)

If it has taken him so long as manager to realise the severe financial constraints the club are under and that the expensive training facility is not fit for purpose, one would assume that he had no idea of these factors and the difficulties the previous manager was working under when he publicly campaigned to create a job vacancy from the comfort and safety of a television studio ;-)

"Publicly campaigned"? Come off it, he made a few comments whilst he had a job as a media pundit. It seems many on here are determined to lynch CH at a very early stage in his managerial career. Knill has had years to develop as a manager, but still screwed up at Plainmoor. CH has had just three months. Sure he has made mistakes, not least of which was signing Stevens, but he didn't sign the lemons that Knill put on long term contracts.

As Stefano by his own admission usually posts 'tongue in cheek' , sometimes exemplified by a ;-) , I can't quite see him as part of a lynching mob; not that I've met him, he might be terrifying in the flesh ! AustrianAndy , on the other hand...... :~D

Anybody going by the name "Stefano" must have links to Italy and, therefore, the Mafia.

Hence why I often ensure that I've not said too much to upset him, in case I should wake up one morning to find a horses head next to my pillow....
