No matter who gets picked this week, is it not really down to the system we have adopted, ie. the same 4-2-4 formation which failed so spectacularly under AK.
We don't score because we think we have to to advance up the pitch with headers and to score with headers; whatever happened to being a passing side and actually creating real chances rather than hitting and hoping. Our two wide men rarely get to the goal-line, our two in midfield have too much to do in defence to properly support the attack, and the two wide men have to help the defensive line also (some more eagerly and succcessfully than others). Or we resort to extravagant cross-field balls to a position of isolated weakness or to over-the-top balls which leave one striker on his own if he can reach it somewhere near the corner flag.
Hence our only outlet is to hoof it upfield instead of controlling the game on the ground in the middle of the park.
It really isn't rocket-science; most of our opponents seem to manage to play a mobile 4-4-2, to get the ball to the feet of front men who actually work together not apart, and to get a wave of supporting players to attack our penalty area with at least 6 men.
When do we ever have that many attackers in or near the box? - well, we just don't, hence we loft the ball at one or two outnumbered attackers, or shoot from distance (usually high or wide or both).
It does not bode well for next season........

People have (quite rightly) been complaining about Nico all season. We get someone in to replace him (late, but better late than never) and people moan.

It's not unique to Torquay, the majority of fans at the majority of clubs are bloody stupid, but it's still frustrating.

What with an 18 year old with no football league experience, that according to the Bournemouth echo has a groin strain and can't play for at least the next 10 days, a unique situation indeed, that can only happen here . Yep left back has been an issue all season, not as bad as our constant failure to score goals at the other end, we've averaged 0.90 goals per game, wonder were our problem is.

If we're struggling to score, it makes sense to sign a defender. If we can keep people out at our end, we only need one. A freak, a penalty, an OG, whatever and we win 1-0. As it stands at the moment, we need two goals a game to get the three points.
A goal saved is a goal earned.

Our O/S says he's available for Saturday, amazing considering Eddie Howe states in linked article about his injury.

Agree with your sentiment there, but then you sign a 23-25 year old left back with a proven league 2 pedigree, not an 18 year old who's had a few games at Welling, who apparently, may not be able to play for us until we turn up at Rovers.

We have the worst strikers in the league so what do we do.

Send one of them back, no problem with that however to bring in an injured 18 year old left (something) player is taking the piss!

I despair, i really do!

I'm a little underwhelmed to be honest. I was surprised we'd signed anyone to be honest but guessed he was likely to be from someone's youth team. He may be decent but it just has the same feel as all of loanees this season. Too young, too inexperienced and not cut-out for the challenge we face.

However, saying that, Adam Smith was a similar age when we signed him on loan at LB and he was brilliant for us.

Of the last eight games, we have lost five of them 1 - 0 and scored just five goals. The defence is under constant pressure because the ball doesn't stay in the opposition half any length of time. Maybe a left back is, or would have been, a useful addition, but by far the main priority was to bring in someone who could get a goal or half-dozen. Taking your analogy to the extreme, we now won't concede goals and as our forwards don't score goals, all our remaining matches will end in 0 - 0 draws which will give us 43 points at the end of the season. Er ..... I don't think that's going to be quite enough. Also, hoping for freak goals, own goals etc - that can happen to either side as happened at York on Tuesday. I don't see the point in bringing in a young lad with no league experience when we are desperately fighting, or should be, to hold on to our league status. I would like to think I will be proved wrong and will happily hold my hand up if I am.

OK then lads, let's sign someone with lots of L2 experience. Good in the air, excellent with both feet. Comfortable joining a brand new group of players and skotting straight in. Also good for a goal every other game. He currently plays for Leeds United, where he earns three grand a week. Northampton are also in for him and are willing to pay 2/3 of his salary. Find some way to make a better offer.

Sell the big Telly
Sack ladabite and cooper and Stevens. Sell Bodin
Borrow the money from next years conference ticket prices!
If we stay up put the ticket price up by a pound.
I would rather pay an extra pound for L2 football instead of Conf hoofball!

We can not sign anyone due to the mess the board has made for themselves.

This is me putting it kindly - you are a moron.

If find it hard to post on here sometimes what with having in interact with such blinkered and basic people such as someone who could provide this sort of absolute golden gem of inspiration.

I cannot even be bothered to tell you what is wrong with you and your way of thinking. I am just scared someone like you actually starts making decisions for this club as we really would be worse off than Darlington the day this happens.

Do expect a response from me when you and your sort react with more nonsensical drivel blaming all and sundry for the current situation which is our as are reality. Try looker a bit closer to home and see if yours and others negativity has had an effect.

I can no longer be bothered to be angered by clueless idiots.
