Paul McCallum
For a team that has no money and a load of directors who (apparently) don't give a toss we seem to sign a hell of lot of players.
A team of strangers turning up at Burton tonight it seems!

International loans were different, until the FA closed a loophole. You could basically play as many loans from foreign clubs as you like.nickbrod wrote:Just how many loan players did Watford field last season?
Most of the starting 11?
That whole system was messed up and I'm glad it got dealt with. Case in point - Watford loaned out Steve Leo Beleck to Stevenage, when he in fact was at loan from either Grenada or Udinese! Get your head around that!

Perhaps the Manager kept a little room in his budget for improvements after his 10 game assessment of the playing squad, maybe he's been very persuasive with the parent clubs in getting them off their hands for peanuts.............brucie wrote:For a team that has no money and a load of directors who (apparently) don't give a toss we seem to sign a hell of lot of players.

...............nah, he's the worst Manager we've ever had apart from Cornforth and Lubos.
Alternatively the village idiot might just have got it wrong.

We need someone who likes to find the back of the net instead of the dross we have at the moment. Sorry i mean to say the strikers who are unable to at the moment.

My concern is at the beginning of the season knill said he was going to run with a small squad consisting of 17 established players and a couple of younger players who he could develop. At the moment we have around 24 players at the club which is more than lint had last year.

Injuries would probably account for most of that surplus.

There's no doubting Knill's impressive ability to persuade clubs to loan us players, but the squad is looking increasingly bloated, with players signed in the summer as first teamers now seemingly heading for the reserves.
No matter the quality of the central midfielders and strikers being signed, there's no excuse for us starting matches with players filling in out of position at the back.

im sorry dave with downes and harding only a week away from fitness why couldnt we have used our squad that are contracted to us more effectively. i understand we had to get in occonor to help out at the back but surely lathrope and craig should have been used before we looked towards 18 year old mccourt who was poor tonight. these players will leave the club in a month possibly and we are left with players that are contracted to the club with their confidence and morale left in tatters. did we need to bring in another forward last nigh when we havent used benyon or yeoman. Did we need to sign mccourt when mozika was signed a week later its all very odd dave. some of his man management decisions are outrageous i know for a fact that there are a number of players that are disillusioned.
The real problem is we have only 1 real quality player and he is injured. Why people keep saying Harding will be returning soon as that is some kind of good news. We have 1 good player, probably 2 half decent players and the rest conference or below std. Knills decision making is poor, he had all summer to get in half decent players, that obviously failed

Credit where credits due knill seems to be able to get these lones and some of them look a real threat. This new guy has what we have been missing a bit, Ariel threat, but why only a month again by the time we have a plan for the team they will go back to their parent club. Yes he can bring in new lones but we look like a bunch of strangers on the pitch.

We are in danger of fielding a team of brilliant individuals who make up a team of misfits. We could have Messi. Ronaldo. and Rooney in the team. but if they turned up and were on the pitch or bench just before the KO I doubt we could make a team spirit with so little notice. If these players are to help us turn any corner then it will take 3 or 4 matches to gel assuming they are of high enough standard to make it work quickly. or nothing will work. We need a settled team and some of our injured squad back. SIMPLES!

Interesting last line in this article on the OS. Wonder why he thinks we can't we use the players we've got?

IMO Knill should have left well alone with McCourt AND McCallum. Who next? McVicar? He'd do a bloody job I tell thee!
He brought in O'Connor and Azeez which are the only sensible loans Knill has made and even then he couldn't get it right with O'Connor who swiftly left us in the sh*t to go off on international duty.
Knill should have brought in 2 centre backs (especially given the circumstances around Pearce) or at least used McKenzie or Hutchings.
McCourt is not even needed. Lathrope can fill in.
McCallum arriving is a sick joke and taking the Michael (no offence to the lad). We have strikers already incuding 2 who are out on loan that shouldn't be. A purely diabolical decision and if West Ham aren't paying for him to be here then get rid of this idiot now before he decimates what is left of our team.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

TBH Ball wasn't needed either and he was not very good. He kept on being picked though despite being a temporary player.
