He hasn't signed for anyone because he's holding out for the best offer possible. He wants as much money as he can get. Just a question of who offers the most before he moves on. Certainly won't be us though.

Howe may not find it so easy when he signs for another League 2 club especially if they are paying them more money. Alot will be expected of him and it may well be that his new clubs fans may not take to his style of playing half his matches in second gear.
He has scored a few goals last year so good luck to him if he gets the move he is after but he is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

a few fans started referring to him as 'the tank' (#thetank) on twitter, and he's now started to call himself it, poor bloke! don't get me wrong though, I would absolutely love him to stay next season, he is a quality player!

Didn't Akinfenwa call himself that for a while?

I would love to keep Howe. He is the best striker we have had for a long time who wasn't on loan and people will continually slate him for not scoring or seeming disinterested in the second half of the season but I suspect it was utterly frustrating for him as one man up front playing in a team that was struggling.

I cannot imagine for one minute he will stay but I would dearly hope he would as we would pretty much be guaranteed a double figure goal tally from him, which those proclaiming the likes of Benyon and Yeoman are unlikely to see from them.

Rene is in theory way too good a player for league 2, there is no doubting his ability. Technically could be a championship player, however maybe the attitude and decision making is keeping him in league 2.
He could have scored way more goals than 16 this season and 14 last season. I think he misses too many simple chances, lacks finishing with his head and have seen him make bad decisions in shooting, trying scoop lobs - rochdale away!

In his own mind maybe - but as I said before "an unplayable" striker on his day such as him is attracting attention from the likes of ahem Portsmouth, Oxford etc (other league 2 clubs).
There is no way he will be a championship player - he will never be fit enough for starters.

Perhaps if he stayed on his feet more often and stopped looking for a foul aĺl the time he would score more often be a better striker and not be booked aĺl the time.

Brucie is right, Rene will never be fit enough for the championship nor consistent enough at that level. He is also nowhere near mobile enough nor does he have anything else to his game other than running onto a through pass, taking on the last man for a shot or nicking something on a shot or ball fizzing about in the box. He can't score with his head, in fact i don't think i've ever seen him jump up for a header from a cross into the box therefore his all round ability is severely limited. He has skill no doubt but that's not enough to alone to get you out of league 2. On his day he is a top league 1 player but no more and as he isn't consistent in terms of performance levels and developing his all round game then he will always be at the top end of league 2. We should not be concerned in the slightest that he is going.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

when i said he has nothing more to his game i meant in terms of being a goal threat, obviously he is superb at holding up play and bringing others in. Just thought i'd add that before i got corrected.

Brucie is right. He's o.k. in League Two, but that's probably about it.

Tauntongull refers to Rene saying on twitter about TUFC offering more money if they really want to keep him.

I just wonder if Rene actually would like to stay at Plainmoor. After all we are the only club where he has enjoyed some success after so many loan clubs. He loves the area, he has his first child to think of and where better to grow up compared to some of the clubs he has been linked with. I would really like to see Rene play for us next season in a better team under a new motivated manager like Alan Knill

I suspect we have offered around 1500 a week for him but he can pick up 2000+ a week with the likes of Oxford and some league one clubs so no chance of him being here next season.
