My personal view is that the supporters who turn up know that we are not going to win and thats the problem.
I think you are right that there is normally no atmosphere but I think the crowd will hopefully get behind the players now. I think this week gone by is an opportunity to turn the corner that the crowd need to aid the players in doing. It is not going to help our fight for league status if supporters get on Joe Oastler's back the moment he mis-places a pass. All that will do is aid the relegation fight of Plymouth Argyle, Accrington Stanley et al.
If there are players who have not been good enough, then the end of the season is the time to think about that and remedy the situation. Players like Oastler are very young and prone to loss in confidence, I should imagine. Now isn't the time to point out to individual players that you may think they are crap or should be dropped. Now is the time to try and support those players in being in the best frame of mind to fight for our club and its league safety.
A week or so ago it felt like the club, the players and maybe us fans had just rolled over and accepted our fate. It feels like a little bit of fight may have just returned and that needs to be harnessed to the best effect. I suppose it is a case of, if you feel you are just going to slag off the team then don't go, as they are probably better off with 1200 supporting them, than 2000 there with 800 having a go at them.

Good on you SNW. Takes me 3 hours and as a season ticket holder I do it on a regular basis!
For those doubters we can stay up.
Interesting to see at Southend yesterday that Chris Brass was spotted on the pitch helping with pre-match preparation. Beginning of the end of Taylor?

Hopefully if Brass is involved he isn't teaching the lads this little party trick:

Best. Own. Goal. EVAR!
Supporters KNOW we aren't going to win? If only they could use their crystal balls to KNOW the lottery numbers...
Matt.

I think Tuesday is going to be a really hard game for us. Chesterfield have only conceded 1 goal in their last 5 games. My straw to clutch at is they’ve played 5 away Tuesday night games and won non. I will be happy with a point but hopeful of all 3.
Im a bit of a local compared to nickbrod. I only got a 300 mile round trip to every home game.

Can I join in?
Although it only takes me 15 minutes to walk to the ground, it is all up hill!

Was also a top draw full back when on loan to us back in the 90s.

Brass was also at the Accrington game, didn't think too much of this as he lives up that way and I assumed he'd just come to chat with Knill. If he was at Southend that would suggest something a bit more.
As Bitchie says, he was a quality player when we had him on loan from Burnley.

Brass is a top bloke and a fully committed professional and no nonsense. He played for York City when i used to be a regular at Bootham Crescent and i've seen him play loads of times. If we can get him here and involved in the coaching then we'll be fine. York legend that man, well he was to me anyway.
