I'm glad we've signed this guy, let's hope he delivers the BALLS some at the club are clearly lacking :)

Topical, right?

Good luck to the new lad. Certainly seems to have some talent and a good attitude.

Very surprising to see some people being a bit disappointed because it isn't the exact loan signing they were hoping for. It was only last Wednesday that austrianandygull's advice to the management was:
At this moment in time i'm that desperate that if it's human, has two legs and a pulse then get them in.
....and by this Wednesday that's exactly the wrong thing to do and we should be far more careful about who we bring in.

But in the end it's the Manager's opinion that matters, and with one eye on the loss of Billy Bodin for a couple of games young Chapell could prove to be a useful addition to the squad.

I'm pleased that he can play on either wing too.

It's not that surprising that Juan Knill has brought in a pacy winger. After hearing his favoured method of play a few weeks back from previous clubs supporters, I was expecting a winger to have been his first priority.
It's also good that he is finally managing to convince players to come down here - it's probably been a rather long couple of weeks for him trying to persuade players that Torquay is the club for them.

Sounds just what we need. Adds something which Knill clearly feels is not at the club at the moment or are not ready yet (Thompson etc). Feeling very much more positive than I was after 4 mins of yesterdays game!!!

Howe isn't the type of player to be launching himself at crosses and corners and so we need another big man with this ability to make us dangerous at set pieces and corners. He could also get knock downs for other players to be brought into play. If you don't want Thompson included because it you think it will damage his development then i can understand that but we need Howe, another big man or stick Jarvis right alongside Howe and then two wingers able to provide a steady supply of crosses and balls in. If Chappell is the man to make this happen then bloody brilliant but what we'll end up doing is playing Howe up on his own again getting knockdowns nowhere near the goal for totally ineffective wide men like Bodin and co. That's all i'm saying. I feel we need some muscle as Howe is a big lad but gets shoved off the ball far too easily and then we have Manse, Downes and Saah. We need to be physical where it matters. If we get a corner there isn't anyone bar Downes who can get on the end of a quality ball apart from maybe Jarvis and so we waste all these opportunities to score goals which we can ill afford to do.
Hmm...Saah and Howe both had headers saved by the keeper on Tuesday. Saah set up the 1st goal with a header. Howe doesn't get shoved off the ball easily, once he is between the defender and the ball that's the way it usually stays. Bodin seems to be getting more effective.

Yes, that is what i said that Downes and Saah ARE good headers of the ball and the best we've got in dangerous situatons bar Jarvo. I didn't say that they WEREN'T good headers of the ball. It says this above.

I've never seen Howe bullet a header in from a corner nor from a cross so that's my point. There's only Jarvis that can do this out of our attackers.

Well, it says it in the post now 1 above as there has been another post since.

i seem to remember when Knill first arrived, we had bury fans on here saying how he liked to have pace out wide, providing quality into the box, and that's exactly what he's brought in, so i'm not at all surprised by this kind of signing. we need attacking options, and this sounds like a good one.

i am also pleased that we're securing loans until the end of the season, instead of these pointless 1-month deals.

Yes but remember how Robinson helped in our win over the Shrews... their boss was none too pleased at the time!

just had a chat to my dee-dar mate (sorry sheff utd fan) and he says this lad is a fine player and well thought of by danny "judas" wilson.

and of course can play on either wing and in behind the striker - good!

Fantastic news! I asked my workmate who's a Burton fan about him, he only saw one game of Chapell's but said he was very direct, liked to run at a defender and often attempted long shots. Sounded quite similar to Jake Robinson to me but better.

He's just the sort of player I would have expected Juan to sign given his preference for fast wingers.
