Re: Getting the crowd back on side

To suggest that offer was 'sexist' is taking it to the extreme. The club has obviously seen that they are missing out on a large section of the potential attendance of the club. They know most (not all!) of the fans that come to games are men and most season ticket holders will also be men. Some of these men will have wives who have never been to a football game. By offering them the chance to come in for free there is the potential that Bill's wife Wendy actually quite enjoys the atmosphere and the singing (well it won't be the football!) and could well force her husband into getting her a few more tickets to games. She then enjoys it even more and wants a season ticket! However unlikely that scenario actually is, I think that's what the club is aiming for.
Not sexist at all. Good business sense to target part of the 'market' where you have little representation in the stands.
It makes even more sense when you consider that if you ARE a male between 15-60 and you have never been to a Torquay game then there would appear to be little else the club could do to tempt this group into the stands. For whatever reason, some people just won't be interested in going to live football games. The club can't change that.
