At home maybe we should try Easton and Craig in the middle? Maybe a little more cultured...

I don't think the answer is here at the moment, I've always seen football as needing light and shade. For every skillful player you need a bruiser or two weaker defensive minded players. I'm thinking Keane or Vieira, short and angry or tall and strong.

True, but they also had some skills and a decent range of passing. And I don't think anyone would ever suggest have both in the same team.
I like Damo for the reason you have given. In the cold light of day I am questioning whether maybe Buckle was right to play Manse at right-back.

At the time it made sense because we had better central midfield players than Manse, also Manse was comfortable playing there although he didn't like it so it meant we could still get him in the side.

cambgull is exactly right you can't have a team of 'footballers' and you can't have a team of 'bruisers' every good one needs a balance, the problem is in my opinion we've got too many of the latter. There is bundles and bundles of perspiration in our team and literally 1 person who delivers inspiration (Howe).

Our midfield over the last few years has had the likes of Carlisle, Zebroski, Wroe, O'Kane, Carayol and probably one or two others i'm forgetting. Think about it which midfielder in our current team could produce a cross like Carlisle's for Sills header? Or who could lob the keeper from 35 yards like O'Kane did? Or rinse 3 players and finish like Carayol did at Bury, or create numerous goals and score 8-10 himself like Wroe did. There's no one. We haven't had a good right sided midfield player, a proper one who has a trick and more importantly a cross since Wayne Carlisle in the BSP promotion season 4 years ago.

Jarvis and others before him get stick and to an extent that's fair but in the bigger picture without Rene and his one man band style of play, the one able to create something out of literally nothing for himself our strikers get worse service than you'll get at Heathrow airport and have done for a considerable length of time. There is abolutely no excitement or creativity amongst our entire midfield, Bodin has produced a bit of trickery for the sky cameras and done sod all else, I hear Nathan Craig is the next Zidane and every time i actually see him play he is completely ineffective, Easton is a plodder, Lathrope is a plodder who can pass a bit, I don't know what ian Morris is, Mansell will run through brick walls for you which you need but he needs someone with him, Stevens is Stevens 1 good game in 5, Macklin same as Morris. And that's us. I'm not expecting we have David Silva or Ryan Giggs play for us but there must be some guys around that are proper midfielders who look up when they get it and not square? and there must be some wingers who when they get it have the capability to produce 3 or 4 good crosses a game floating around somewhere?!

this is where our energy needs to be seriously focused in the summer and this is why we are so dire to watch sometimes.

No one scores headers because we never provide any crosses of quality unless it's a Nicholson set piece.

Andy? That you???

I am confident (given time) he will become a massive player for us as long as numpte's like you don't drive him away from the club!

I will go as far as saying next season will be a big season for Bill and he will end up (if he is not sold that is!) in the League 2 team of the Year.

One thing I am sure off is that you will turn up at Plainmoor with your vendetta firmly in place and will be attacking Billy before he even touches the ball. Try growing up and supporting your team and players instead of having an agenda against them.

for the record i am NOT andy !!! and those of you who think i am... you have made yourselves look quite foolish. i am a genuine poster as you are. i would love to see billy perform but i am aware that there are several other players who have underperformed this season eg danny nicho etc for whatever reason ( i don't think you can become a bad player overnight ) and don't seem to get the same leniency as billy. what excuses do you have for them ? please don't tell me it's lack of passion or commitment because i don't think any of our players lack that.

Just to clear things up - Andy and Novicegull are two different people.

You are correct - you are not Andy. Andy does not attend games with a player bashing agenda - he goes to support the team (and all the players of it).

I hope you do the same but I have noticed many at Plainmoor do not. I refer to them as the Plainmoor morons.

Bill will come good - I am really confident this will happen. In recent games he has shown signs that his form is improving. As fans we need to make home games a more welcoming prospect to help him on his way.
