I bet he hasn't even got a pornograph. Funny, I thought it was a shop selling second hand goods lol.

Ok, does this screen allow for moving images / video or is it just for stills and adverts and things? I seem to remember asking this on the original thread and the general consensus of opinion was that as we are Torquay and have zero cash then we can forget about the screen being any good. I would like to try and think of some sensible ideas but can't as i don't know what we're working with. Anybody help who knows exactly the facts about how good it is?
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

with it being a screen, surely it would allow for moving images. I cant see it being just a 'photo slideshow' effect.

• Highlights from classic Torquay games.
• League 2 scores
• Team line ups
• Porn
Does anyone know if we are even going to be able to see it from the popside anyway?
I can't help but feel that as the screen is going to be facing Bristows Bench, half the ground won't be able to see it anyway. Old codgers in the Bench = bad eyesight. Family stand = too far away. Pop = wrong angle. Away = who gives a stuff.People who can actually see the screen = ?????
I'm sure they've thought of all this though......

Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.
There is a plan for a screen to be put in place in the corner between the Bench and the Family Stand but finances cannot stretch to this currently. I suspect the success of this screen will have a big effect if this ever comes to fruition.SteveDeckchair wrote:• Highlights from classic Torquay games.

Based on the latest offerings on dot com there won't be any time for anything other than adverts. Advert for a throw in, card, penalty......
Imagine the advert overkill if a throw in (advert)goes just inside the box, where the player fouls and penalty given (advert), one is given a red card (advert) the other injured and receives treatment (advert), the resultant penalty is saved (advert) by the keeper who tips it onto the post (advert)and it rolls across the line before being bundled in for a goal (advert).

I agree - this latest update on the screen is very worrying. It is a very America idea and could make us a bit of a joke in all honesty.numpte wrote:Based on the latest offerings on dot com there won't be any time for anything other than adverts. Advert for a throw in, card, penalty......

Yeah, I think this would really good. Especially on a typical Tuesday night game in Winterhappytorq wrote:They should use the first 45 seconds of "The Bay" by Metronomy, as in intro.

Just read the article about big screen rates.... Advertisement overload or what
Optimism about this screen has been somewhat lessened. Will there be any time to show any of the stuff we want to see in between these constant adverts

Basically the screen is likely to only be used for player intros prior to the game, and as a scoreboard/clock during the game. Have they said that they'll be showing highlights during the game? I doubt it - aside from the potential stick the ref could get, it probably would require some quick editing of the video (and as I recall the tv position isn't exactly close to anything)
It makes perfects sense to me that they're going to try to flog a shedload of advertising. They're hoping to make £23,000 a year out of it, which could be helpful for a club of our size. I'll admit, an ad for a throw in does seem pretty daft though.

Well, above all else highlights (most likely to be problematic and not practical), substitutions and scores in other games. However it is more the fact that with all this advertising I feel as if it will somewhat detract from the wonderful nature of the screen itself. Personally, no matter how much I understand the use of adverts and the obvious need for them in terms of revenue, I can't think anything I would rather see less on the screen.
I know we have to have the adverts there, and that it is obviously the first priority in terms of revenue, but do you not feel that an advert for literally every possible thing that could happen in the match is just too much?

Let's celebrate Torquay's famous literary daughter Agatha Christie and use the screen as a giant Kindle! Perfect for those games where Ling starts with three defensive central midfielders…

Split-screen it. Advertisements on the top few millimeters and then the rest to show useful information for the crowd.
Or put another screen on the back of that screen and show the advertisements on that, with useful stuff on the one that everyone can see.
Neither will happen, but oh well.
