Dinger brought Rice and McPhee back to Torquay and at the time, all things considered, a reasonable bit of business.
Whether Dinger sees Logan as "a wabbit aht the 'at" is another matter.
If Dinger brings in another senior striker (who ever it may be) then I'll trust his judgement.

Pretty much agree with this. I'd have him, but not at the expense of Howe, who's had a good season, and not to play alongside him either. Someone who can actually affect a game on the bench would be great, I just worry about the budget. Can't see it happening personally.ROADRUNNER wrote:he may be quicker than howe but rene is stronger and i would rather have him up there than logan, we need pace along side rene and logan aint the answer, need a bodin or kuffour type player, logan would be ok as a stand in if rene was injured.

I think this could be a shrewd bit of business by Lingy if we are going to make a move for Logan.
I can understand the clamour for a pacy striker (which Logan isn't) to play alongside Howe but that would mean a switch to 4-4-2 rather than the 4-5-1 (or 4-3-3) that we played so successfully for the most part last season and presumably wouldn't mean a place in the team for Lathrope, or indeed Easton should he join us.
I think Logan has proved most effective for that lot up the road coming off the bench with 20 or 30 minutes to go and nicking a goal (usually a far post header!) for them. I can see his role with us being very similar, in that he will be cover for those occasions when Rene is either worn out, injured or suspended. In other words Logan will be back up to Howe rather than play alongside him.
Like others, I too am waiting for Lingy to sign one or two "speed merchants" but I suspect that he may look to find that in the wide areas rather than through the middle a la Bodin (or someone similar) in much the same way as Cheltenham did to us in the play offs.
As SG points out, Logan is (relatively) cheap, he's local and seemingly wants to stay in the area and he has a decent scoring record at this level and the one above over the past few seasons. As for the player himself, whether he signs and whether if he does he makes a success of himself here remains to be seen, a lot of ECFC fans seem very sad to see him go, while a few are glad to see the back of him citing a poor personal fitness levels on occasions and a struggle to motivate himself when not involved on a regular basis. I guess it would all depend on whether Lingy could motivate him enough to get the very best out of him in what would no doubt be the latter stages of his League career.

Sorry to come back to this, but we need a definitive answer here. Taking the definition of 'pacy' (subject to the usual rules of statutory interpretation, and the provisions of the Interpretation Act 1978) to mean: a man who is quick to accelerate quickly or to accelerate merely briskly but be possessed of an especially high maximum speed or some combination of these two elements.
And where, when judged against a professional footballer of ordinary pace would compare favourably to him in terms of pace.
Is Logan pacy?
Matt.

Jon Shaw is available on a free. He must be worth a look.

Jon Shaw scored 56 goals in 97 games for Gateshead. In fact he scored 50 in his first 80 games .
How often do we sign a prolific goal scorer? Very rarely.
One thing for sure there are a lot of pros looking for new clubs.
Martin seems a shrewd guy and hopefully he will surprise us but the budget means no name players.
Neil Mellor at Preston North End has just retired having played about 10 games in 3 seasons at a cost of £350,000 per season!!

I wouldn't be too thrilled with Logan signing. From what I remember of him, he wasn't overly quick, was lazy, and involved in the infamous 'new years eve-gate' involving Martin McNeil and Christian Hanson.
I'd be quite underwhelmed by him signing for us.

If he's not good enough for Exeter he's not good enough for us..

Logan would be a really dull signing and potentially upset the camp. I expect Ling to use the loan market for a quick young forward who would better compliment Rene/not be overly expectant to start every match.
And of course any more signings in that department could well be dependent on whether ling can offload Chris the boy Mcphee and serial texter Lloyd Macklin. That isn't going to be an easy task either.
