Rene Howe ....
Happy with Howe.
Similar stats and reputation that Zebroski came with and we were gutted to see him leave. Fingers crossed this will be another 'diamond in the rough' to receive a Gull's polishing.

Well this Atieno or whatever his name is is supposed to be rapid? So hopefully if he's any good you get that option, a wide left player as well and I think our squad looks ok. That's before you factor in the loan market which won't open until August really as clubs are happy to have big squads now and give everyone a shot in pre season.

As a Peterborough fan I can say that this is a slightly disappointing signing. I wouldn't mind him as a rotation but we should not pin our hopes on him, he's nothing special and League 2 is as good as he'll be.

It looks like Puffing Billy will have competition with regard to "who ate all the pies".

Rovers fans were saying he is a bit overweight when he played for them at the end of last season and that he has no pace. Time will tell if thats the case.royalgull wrote:Yeah in that picture he looks really fat. Wish i was that fat.

Could be but 1 more addition with pace might add that dimension when needed. Hopefully thats the plan now.Fonda wrote:Kee and Howe. Well, it's powerful. If a bit...slouchy?

I guess my source was right!
Happy with the signing!
I hope Taiwo Atenio impresses Ling with his performance tonight so he can be signed up as well!

Maybe partly due to him not being match fit as he'd barely featured until going on loan to them? Hopefulyl a good pre season will sort out any of those issuesRichinns wrote: Rovers fans were saying he is a bit overweight when he played for them at the end of last season and that he has no pace. Haven't game over to troll, I didn't during the Buckle scenario or when we were making signings - just an honest opinion:
I would've thought you guys could of done better - he's a pretty crap player to be honest. I genuinely hope you dont have to rely on him as first choice. He's not really a target man, he's probably better when he's able to run at players - he said that himself in an interview i could probably find for you with a little bit of looking. Not very good in the air, can't really jump and a pretty shocking first touch. To be fair to him, he didn't get many games last season before he came to us - with a pre-season he might lose some of his size and it might help him excel. He could be good enough at this level and i genuinely hope he is, because to be fair to him, he worked alot harder than some of the wasters we had here last season, but i previously thought he'd drop into non-league. But like i said, i'd wish him and you the best, he won't fail for lack of effort thats for sure.
Mind you - may i add, he couldn't of joined a team in a worse situation than last season under a useless manager in an even more useless squad, so I might've seen the worst of him.

Good signing for me and the sort of powerhouse upront that we have been missing in recent times. Just spoke to my buddy who is a big posh fan, and as others have said should do well for us at this level.
In my mates opinion who has been to Torquay games with me, if he is fit (slight problem with weight sometimes), will be quality in league 2 and a class above Rendell, Zeb, Sills, etc etc, infact any front man he has seen in a yellow shirt in the dozen or so Torquay games he has seen.
Little doubt that some on here will glance at his record on WIKI, and because he has failed to set the world alight slump into negativity, but Lings signings for me have so far been good ones, especially this one, Saha, and the keeper. Keep it up Dinger! :~D

Everybody has a photographic memory, some people just dont have film.
I know this is stating the obvious, with our player budget screwed, Buckle and virtuly our entire foward line from last season gone, this coming season was going to very tough indeed, surely this season is all about Ling using what money he has got to assemble a squad capable of finishing as far away from the bottom two as possible.
I was more than a tad worried who was going to be capable of holding the ball up front with out Tomlin, not now, with the addition of Rene Howe,to go with Olnjick,Saah,McPhee.not forgetting there is likely to be atleast two more,we now look to have a squad more than capable of competeing in league 2 ,and thats what it all about for next season.
