This was the game that worried me most of our run in towards the festive season. Happy with the performance but even happier with another 3 points on the board.

I agree Dave - my thoughts too. But we made them look distinctly poor for much of the game. Shame we couldn’t put the game to bed.

Great win on a very cold Tuesday evening

Another professional display and operation by the club to make it a safe and enjoyable evening sticking 2 fingers up at the clown

Ryan Lowe was in the family stand and he would have been impressed by Randals ball in for Wrights goal

Shame that we couldn't have been further infront when they scored, was a strange decision to announce man of the match around the 75min mark!

As quickly as the games come we've got to bank this one and refocus for Saturday

Another great win, We really are the form side and long may it continue. You kind have to pinch yourself when you look at the league table.
Gary Johnson has really just turned our club around. Those dark days of a couple a years ago are fading from the memory..... Slowly!
And with Sutton losing, just the icing on the cake...

The first half performance was as good as I've seen in a number of years. We were energetic, bright and moved the ball at pace. Maidenhead were big and physical but they really couldnt cope. The only disappointment was scoring a single goal before half time. Although it was a great lob from Whitfueld on the edge if the area.
The second half was a little different. Although we again started brightly. Their keeper made an incredible double save in the first minute. After that it was a little scrappy although we were still reasonably controlling the game.
When we got the second it should have been game over. The final 10 mins was a little nervy. Last season we would have conceded a second. We look a totally different team, playing with confidence.
The club really did manage the COVID situation much better than I was expecting so credit where it is due. I would encourage anyone that hasnt been back yet to give it a go.
The crowd was a little disappointing but it was a bitterly cold night. My only grumpy was that the stewards took my flask of coffee from me. Apparently club rules (although you are allowed to take in bottles of pop) - work that one out!!!

And I thought that the stewards were selling raffle tickets!

Yes, even I can't take a flask despite being on duty for an hour and half before the match even starts. Two flasks were impounded just in front of me but, unlike in the dark days, it was done with a light touch and with good humour (the owners were offered the chance to drink the contents while the admin was being done and raffle tickets were being taped to the flasks).

It's a small price to pay for having you all back.

I agree the first half was as good as anything I have seen in years. As good as the Leroy days (well almost perhaps) with the likes of Russell, Fowler and Graham. Some of the slick passing and movement were a joy to behold. Should have been 3 up at half time, game over.
Think the defence has tightened up a lot and look fairly comfortable ( apart from the odd lapse only to be expected at this level). Don’t think the timing of the substitution was great and maybe led to their goal. Even the last ‘nervy’ ten minutes weren’t as nervy as they have been in the past.

My concern from last night and I think GJ alluded to it in his post match analysis, is the number of walking wounded we have. I noticed Ben Whitfield, Danny Wright and Sam Sherring all limping at the end CLE seems to be targeted every game. Add that to our unavailable through injury of our regular full backs and Armani Little then we can’t afford many more injuries.

As far as the flask issue is concerned think it is only plastic bottles with drink in that are allowed!

The first half was so one sided it would have been very disappointing if we had not got the goal and although Maidenhead never remotely threatened you feared a sucker punch. We needed a third goal to really finish them off . I wish the announcer wouldn't cut in at the wrong moments , twice about leaving rules and then the man of the match. He was rabbiting on when Maidenhead had a corner, disturbed my concentration so must do the players. Do it when the ball has just gone for a goal kick and keep it short and snappy .
Do think they could relax the flask rule when it's so cold and the refreshments are not open. Bloke near me had a flask at half time so not consistent by the stewards.

It must of been me sitting in front of you Gateman as I were offered to drink up before the flask was impounded.
I have to say it was handled very well, I have no issues with that. The Steward was probably a little embarrassed if anything.
I didn't know the rule so will learn for next time. When I went to get my flask back there was a box full of them so plenty of others didn't realise either.
Just looked at the table and were in a great position. Who does everyone think will be our main challengers? I think Stockport. They are a little behind but do have games in hand.

I believe the injury situation is the only obstacle that can stop us from regaining our place in the league. As has been suggested we can argue bad luck. Luck ,both good and bad is not something that has any scientific basis, you do not run a business or plan a game based on superstition, unless you live in Totnes. Anyway it does not answer the fundamental issue of why we are having so many injuries and recurring ones at that. We are as fit as I have ever seen a Torquay squad so with the amount of games we are playing, fitness should take care of itself. We have a manager with assistants, we have a 22 man squad for fifteen positions but a physio who seems to exist as a one man band. He is not qualified in the numerous positions that a larger club would employ in sports science . I am not suggesting that Kai is not up to the job but that the job is too big for one person, Injury recovery and recuperation is a field in itself and not to be confused with throwing a cold sponge over an injured player or overseeing warm ups pre game. If all the things are in place for a return to the league then the investment of further specialist personnel is a must.

I was stopped going into the ground with my flask and took it back to the car what am I going to do a 73 year old in the Briscoe Stand on my own.

A great first half fast football that Maidenhead could not cope with one of the best halves I have ever seen well done all of you. :~D

A good size attendance wrapped up on a fresh December night showing "aint afraid of no flu".

A tad concerned by the untaken first half chances but Whitfield finally put one away. Agree with most posters view of the game.
