If you're talking about Bruce the shark from finding Nemo, remember fish are friends not food..

The worst thing would be for it to be passed fit now but subject to a further inspection at 11, then 1 etc and for it to be ultimately called off.

If there is any chance that further rain, which is likely, could cause a postponement, then they should postpone it and save everyone the bother.

Yep one pm postponement would be a nightmare for me as i don't want a wasted journey. Will be some unhappy punters if that happens. Need to call it off now - the pitch inspection was advertised for 40 minutes ago and still no news...here we go again.

How can you have a pitch inspection and still not announce the result of it three quarters of an hour later?

Might have got there late / started a little later than they planned. Or, the pitch might be okay now, and the call needs to be with regards to expected weather later on.... in which case I'd personally rather them take a little longer and make the right call than rush and muck up.

The whole process of pitch inspections needs to be addressed by the FA.
When you consider that the referee is paid for an overnight stay, I always wonder why they are not made to carry out the pitch inspection by 8am at the very latest. Whilst it may be a little more inconvieniant for the ref in question, this is a national league and an hour either way will make a massive difference to those trying to plan their day, and especially those Bury fans who must have already made the decision today as to travel or not.

We're caught between a rock and hard place really. We desperately want to get the game on for our own ends obviously and if that means leaving any potential postponement decision to the very last minute then I can totally understand. The downside of this is the cost aspect to fans of BOTH clubs in terms of time and money for an aborted journey should the game be called off late.

I do think that some common sense should be exercised. For example, if I was a Bury fan then if there was any doubt that the game would be on (which their clearly has been all week) then I'd have made my decision about going to the game or not last night. There would be no way I'd travel and spend the cash and risk it. Those that do can't really complain about a wasted journey because they know that a late postponement might happen. It's such a risk to not know for definite if one is travelling a long way. If we were at home to Bristol Rovers or someone nearer then it wouldn't be too much of a problem if the game was off.

We must bear in mind that any Bury fans who are now on their way down have done so knowing the game may be called off so it's their choice.

I hope the game is on for everyone down there in Torquay who need a bit of cheering up as I think we can win this one. COYY!

Can I just add that that club could have stated the game would be on and then call it off after if weather worsens, in which case the Bury fans still know there is an element of risk.

It is very frustrating as we all know but the club WANT to get the game on so I'm sure they are doing all they can in the face of growing criticism and the worst rainfall for a quarter of a century.

The fact that an hour has passed since start of inspection and that there hasn't been much rain, just wind, probably means the decision is in the balance. Perhaps playable right now, or will be in a couple of hours if no further rain. It's just the inconvenience of not knowing what to plan for the day. Just sitting around waiting. Would just like to know one way or the other and if here is a doubt then just call it off.

Yes fair point, but the club seem to really be shooting themselves in the foot yet again. Its quite reasonable to announce a pitch inspection at 9am but its now over an hour later and the game is supposedto kick off in less than five hours - yet there is no information whether the game is on/off/might be on.
Is that good ennough? - no.
