Its hardly an overaction is it. If he isn't fit to throw the ball how is he going to be fit enough to fling himself across the goal and stop some shots.
Great he can kick the ball - so why with two keepers injured can't we sign a replacement - or do we actually want to get relegated which is how it seems at the moment.
I can see Rice starting the match and not finishing it - god it actually beggars belief, wouldany other club carry on like this. No wonder we are a fecking shambles.

As much as it pains to say brucie is right

if what your saying royalgull is correct then its a shambles!

RoyalGull, people are concerned because in your own words, Martin Rice is not 100% fit. With so much at stake, and in such a crucial position, that is a huge worry.

What is a bigger worry is we will wait and see on Thursday. Again - is this yet another example of us not reacting quickly enough as:

1 - Will we even have enough time to get someone in with the paper work that goes with it?

and

2 - Will the person in question get anytime to meet and fit in with the squad or will he be thrown straight in - off the bus from god knows where?

Just one of the biggest games in our history and we are playing the wait and see game. This is like playing Russian roulette with 6 bullets in the gun.

Ricey is either fit to play or he isn't. If throwing the ball is an "issue" for him, then he is not fit to play and I ask what the hell are we playing at? Saturday's game is effectively sh*t or bust, we have to have a fit keeper. I despair at the fact that the club I love is now appearing a total shambles to its fans.

At such a difficult time the club owes it to the fans to keep in touch with them. Give us news, tell us what is going on. If we hear nothing but rumours then we fear the worst.

I just hope it won't take Alan Knill a fortnight to find an emergency replacement keeper, and another two weeks to persuade him to come to Plainmoor..!! :(

So. Much. Hysteria.

Players play with this sort of niggle all the time. Injections before games, a few days off training, strapping on a knee. Ricey won't be throwing the ball, big deal, he can kick it or roll it out as he does 99% of the time anyway. If he needs to go full length to tip the ball round the post, then he will.

The club isn't a total shambles at all. We have a beautiful ground, we are well on our way to having some of the best off field facilities in the division, we have made a change at the very top of the club (a change which many on here have been asking for for months and are now whinging about) in order, presumably, to help the club progress, we are financially viable (a rarity these days), we have a decent enough squad who are, unfortunately, having a bad time of it of late, but staying up is largely still in our hands and we can take great strides to securing that survival on Saturday.

Deary me, I hope there's never a real nationwide emergency, you lot would be hopeless, all running around as if your hair was on fire.

Matt.

very few of our players will be 100% fit. Players carry niggling injuries or knocks all the time, it's not a big issue. He'll be fine for Saturday

I would be very concerned with a 100% fit Martin Rice in goal for one of the most important games in our history. So to hear he might not even be 100% is even more frightening.

Perhaps Alan Knill doesn't have ANY contacts and this Everton/Man United link was pure fiction that Simon Baker fell for.
