To suggest that offer was 'sexist' is taking it to the extreme. The club has obviously seen that they are missing out on a large section of the potential attendance of the club. They know most (not all!) of the fans that come to games are men and most season ticket holders will also be men. Some of these men will have wives who have never been to a football game. By offering them the chance to come in for free there is the potential that Bill's wife Wendy actually quite enjoys the atmosphere and the singing (well it won't be the football!) and could well force her husband into getting her a few more tickets to games. She then enjoys it even more and wants a season ticket! However unlikely that scenario actually is, I think that's what the club is aiming for.

Not sexist at all. Good business sense to target part of the 'market' where you have little representation in the stands.

It makes even more sense when you consider that if you ARE a male between 15-60 and you have never been to a Torquay game then there would appear to be little else the club could do to tempt this group into the stands. For whatever reason, some people just won't be interested in going to live football games. The club can't change that.
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

I think the only way to get the crowd back on side between now and the end of the season is to start with a more attacking line-up and try and score some goals. At least if we go down fighting people will have something to cheer about along the way. This consistent crap we are fed week in week out is doing no one, club, fans or players any good at all.

Totally agree, daft as it sounds. Really going for it from now until the end of the season would get some semblance of feel good factor around the place and would definately lead to us staying up. If we go down not even having tried to change our archaic tactics then it would do more damage then people realise for next season. If we go down fighting then people will be more likely to come back next season IMO.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
