Lloyder5 I agree with Hector! I was not in any way suggesting replacing Rene because in the current squad he is irreplaceable!!

portugull wrote:I think Hector has hit the nail on the head. Sheer frustration for Rene. This is down to bad management.

Lets face it if Rene had the right service he would be a 20 to 25 goal player like Pope at Port Vale.

You cannot score on your own.Football is a team game and our management has been found wanting big time.
Time for a rethink on formation and style. Up to Christmas we had only lost about 8 games. To lose 7 on the bounce shows something is seriously wrong at Plainmmoor. You do not become a bad team overnight.
Football is all about man management. Rene needs motivation. Over to you Mr. Knill.

:goodpost:

brilliantly, but simply put. i agree with every single word. especially the highlighted bits.

You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

ive heard it all now, drop your top scorer, the only person who looks like scoring, are you barmy or what. rene has battled all season long most of the time running his socks off for a lost cause and on his own up front, bloody hell why dont we just all pack up now , because if we drop him we are doomed for sure. he is probably fed up with what he has around him.

Roadrunner, its not that i have lost the plot when saying drop him, i just felt he was lazy yesterday when others for example Jarvis and Benyon chased lost balls and a few times got something from it. Just might be worth giving Jarvis and Benyon a shift together and see how it goes, and in doing so play stevens and Bodin on the wings. Lets not forget most of Renes goals came in the first 12 games, 20 odd games later he has scored in the odd game

What we need is a creative midfielder who is not afraid to pass, rather than hump upfield to you guessed it Rene who will then lose it. We need another striker. And defence wise they where ok yesterday. The problem lies in midfield not being creative(lack of confidence) and prepared to pass to the wingers.

This is going to be a critical off the field week which could define the season, as we need fresh blood now not in 3 weeks

To drop our main threat of scoring would be suicidal! He needs service. He is frustrated because he has to drop too deep to get the ball. I am not sure that Benners is the right man to play up top with him either.

Agree with hector, and those who have backed up his opinion, the only game at home I have missed all season was Wycombe, Rene has knocked his nuts off all season, coming deep and chasing lost cause after lost cause and at times has been feeding off scraps, he is frustrated there is no doubt, even think his mind may now be else where sadly.

But you simply can not drop the one player capable of winning a game on his own, as said been to all home games bar 1, been to 3 away games and have not seen one single lazy performance from Rene Howe.

If we drop Rene, we may as well just play with 10 men- as we don't have anyone else suitable. He isnt getting the service.

Exactly it. He is frustrated (and rightly so) because all he gets is a long, hit and hope it sticks, ball. Even RVP would not have scored for us in recent games had he been playing.

Its not exactly difficult for him to be our top scorer with the formation we have been playing, never rated the bloke always though just a lumbering donkey. Time to spend some cash and get in a decent striker but on the brighter side at least non league football should be cheaper so can get to more matches.
