Big screen started? Surely not

Post by holsten »

There's a huge crane at Plainmoor moving quite large bits of steel onto a corner of the pitch. It's closed off a section of Marnham road and is moving them in between the away end and popside.

Surely the big screen isn't finally being installed?

This was around half 10 this morning. All they were doing was moving steel onto the pitch.

Just went up for a quick look, the crane's gone and I can CONFIRM that there is a structure in place. Rises about 4 ft over the popside and it looks like all the framework is it place, just without a screen.

Will the screen have replays of goals and incidents or is it just a bog standard scoreboard / electronic advertising board does anyone know?
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Make it sing, make it dance, make it up.

Honestly, the club spend a King's ransom on something which not only do startlingly few clubs (even at Premier League level) have, but that we have been asking for for years, and yet rather than be grateful/excited/pleased, you'd rather publish a load of old uninformed, unsubstantiated and, if memory serves me correctly (which it may well not) incorrect rubbish.

Thanks go from me to all those involved, including the sponsors who have made this all possible financially, for the latest in the long line of excellent advances in the last few years.

Matt - this indicates you know something!

What will the big screen provide to us fans?

I think it will be a great addition but would be a whole lot more excited if it provided more than adverts.

No secret at all that I'm on the focus group and that we have pressed for a big screen. While it is true that the screen will open up huge avenues of opportunity regards sponsorship, it must have a functional purpose too and that purpose will be to act as a big screen in the traditional highlights and replays sense. There are rules (I think) governing which incidents may be replayed (if I recall correctly, you're not allowed to show how useless the ref is, by replaying penalty incidents, for example. Nazism is alive and well, and it's based at the FA HQ), but it stands to be yet another excellent resource available to us.

Matt.

Should be noted, for the hard of thinking, that this post is not an official TUFC statement and shouldn't be associated with the club at all.

This is fantastic news - great if it did this plus the team lineups / clock and score and all that jazz! Am I right in thinking the popsiders will hard pressed to see it?

Will be a great addition to the ground and will really add to the match day atmosphere I think. All we perhaps need now is some dancing girls (although can't complain as we've got Miss England on Saturday!) and everything will be in place.

I seriously doubt that any video footage will be of "live" incidents though as this would probably be way too expensive but some "old" footage of previous home games will still be worth watching as part of the pre match entertainment.

Not specifically, Smiffy, although you could have taken a happier stance for the avoidance of doubt. o:)

The Family Stand end of the Pop might struggle, Rich, but I couldn't speculate as to just how much will be visible.
