I absolutely love the comments from Paolo yesterday following Swindon's "shock" defeat at home to Macclesfield

He got the team in at 7.30am this morning

When I compare that to Lingy's pathetic and almost wet comments yesterday claiming the team worked hard enough it does make you wonder.

Thought I would have calmed down by now, but seeing Lingy sticking up for the players following that yesterday and then reading how Swindon's boss reacted have made me more angry.

As I have said before, in my opinion 7 players who started were pathetic, but Leadbitter, Downes, Saah and Craig all looked like they cared, so if you are reading this thanks for your efforts.

I will be more than interested in what Lingy, Mansell and the Chairamn write in the next home proggy.

Unless the players have the mentality of a seven year old, Ling's approach is far, far better.

Punishing players for losing is a North Korean principle and should be left there.

Got your politics a little wrong there Gulliball. North Korea is a Communist State who do not allow visitors so no-one quite know's what actually goes on there!

I take your point to a certain extent, but the best managers in the world are very honest about their problems and sort them out.

Workrate was clearly an issue yesterday from 7 of the team, and getting them in early (well not really early just the time half the UK population start work) would have been a great idea IMO.

....and finally I would ask, who will go further in management Paolo or Lingy....no one know's I guess but i know where I would put my money

I admired Di Canio for making decisons, however rash, and sticking to them. I do wish Martin was more assertive but i do believe that ranting at players doesn't work and it has taken quite a bit of time for me to accept this. I believe a manager should have the strength to make a decision, for example dropping a player because he is well out of form but not castigating him. Just offering an explanation and a chance for the player to rectify things. Again that manager should not be afraid to do the same again should that player return to the side and STILL not do as required. Just look at Roy Keane, the man is completely useless at managing people so therefore is a useless manager. If something isn't working then address it and then you can move forward, i don't particularly think Ling is doing this effectively at the minute but agree with Gulliball now despite me often wanting to go in the dressing room myself and let the players know how i feel.

The players know how bad yesterday was, but having them in at 7.30am the next day doesn't benefit anyone, it won't change the result yesterday, and it won't help us prepare for Barnet on Tuesday.

Reading your replies, I tend to agree with you.

I suppose what has annoyed me all along is Lingy's comments that the team worked hard enough. Everyone in the , allbeit, small crowd could see that was just not true. I found the performance of some players so shocking that I sort of wanted Ling to show he cared more and he was not going to patronise the fans with his comments. No one can say PDC has not done that!

The next two matches will be so important for the club, not so much in results IMO but more the effort put in. Some of the bigger players , including the experienced pros such as Mansell and Nicholson must show they are willing to die for the cause (to use that terrible football term).

I myself am unable to go to Barnet, but will show faith by going next Saturday.

I'd quite like to go, if I'm honest.

Not sure what Dinger is getting at, workrate was piss poor and we could all see it. However, let's not start idolising Di Canio as some sort of managerial God, he's not, he's a bloody lunatic who is lucky that he is at a club which has the money to put up with him offering refunds and sacking players every 5 minutes. He has got ideas miles above his station and it is nothing but money that is keeping Swindon where they are. It's not because of Di Canio, it's in spite of him.

Yes I can imagine what happened after the game at Swindon, PDC...I am italian, I look good, I have played in the premier league none of you have, who are you..all in for training at 7.30 am.

Players after their naugty step training session, yep you have got to respect PDC, just think it could be worse, we could have to put with the Torquay boss, you know that Martin Ling look how he treats his players, as said the guys and idiot who is lucky to be at Swindon and not at a club with no money.

Footballers are adults and don't need telling when they have screwed up, it was clear by the reaction of our players at full time they knew they had let Lingy, the club, the fans, are most importantly of all themselves down, as for Martin lings comments after the game, the players got pelters from the crowd at full time and sometimes it really is the job of the manager to defend his players in public, respect between a manager and players is two way..and thats a lesson PDC will need to learn if he wants to manage a real big club.
