Matchday: Nike Academy today

Post by Yellow4life »

The gulls play Nike academy tomorrow at plainmoor with a 2pm kick off, prices are £3 adults and £1 children.

I expect Karl baker to play along with some youth teamers and trialists too as we have most of our reserves in the first team at the moment!

Heard from a goalkeeping academy coach I know that a young 18 year old keeper from the U.S he has been working with is on trial with us, wonder if the club are looking at him as a development player, because I am told he is not on trial for the youth team.

Edit, forgot to say, wonder if he will play any part in this game.

Wont be able to off to work in 10 minutes or so don't finish till 8am, so will be sleeping, I think Ricey will play aswell, I have met this young keeper, who in the past has trained and played for the spurs academy, and is currently over here trying to find a club, and only found out tonight he is working with us at the moment.

I trained with him, he is insane! He had Cardiff and Tottenham trials, and he would've signed for tottenham but as he was signing redknapp resigned and all the coaching staff changed and he had to have another trial, i know he went to cardiff but nothing came of that.. if we sign him we have got a really good keeper, only 18 and is only going to get better

Byron Anthony must be all kinds of desperate - I know that I've said that I don't rate him that highly, but a player with 100+ senior appearances isn't the type you expect to be trialling once the season has started.

Alex Evans I think we had on trial last season? Artemi has obviously been kicking around for a while, and good to see we are looking again at locally based players to uncover a gem.

I suppose Anthony wouldn't be too bad as a 3rd/4th choice back up as long as he's fairly cheap.

Alex Evans was on trial with us, and to be fair to him during pre season and the trip to the USA he did pretty well. I believe we offered him a deal where he could be at the club, but asoon as we signed Raynes Chris Wilder got rid. I wish him well and hope he finds a club, and believe he played for Cardiff City.

Oxford had him on trial in Pre Season and he seemed to do ok for them.

Don't think we did, I think you might be thinking of another former Cardiff City youngster called Adam Davies who played at full back for us against Bideford?

Some good trialists to look at. Obvious Ling is looking for cover at CB and worth having a look at the lad from Bodmin. Nothing official about the keeper though? Sounds a promising find if true.

That could be who I confused him with - I don't think it helped that I signed Alex Evans on loan for us on Football Manager!
