Likely atmosphere this season
With the Grandstand and Enclosure shut, the Family Stand and Popside will have "new guests". My guess is those who usually sit will relocate to the Family Stand and those who usually stand will relocate to the Popside.
An opening day's gate of 3500 ? (3000 home 500 away ?).
My point is, the Family and Pop will have more in them than the usual. This will add to a better atmosphere/better encouragement for the players. Better encouragement, better performances ? Better performances, better results ? Better results, better attendances ? Better attendances, better atmosphere ?
Got the drift ?

I think it should be good this year, really looking forward to my first trip to Plainmoor of the season. If we can get at least half the Popside chanting it'll be a superb atmosphere.

unfortunately the grandstand area and most of the family area its like waking up the dead to get a loud atmosphere...im sure the popside will be loud....it drives me mad sometimes with the lack of noise from the majority on the grandstand and family....i hope more try to make some noise as my voice is always nearly going when i go....

Your reasoning may be based on rose tinted spectacles unfortunatly. The past few seasons have cleary shown that for some weird reason when we sruggle we seem to have a higher average crowd than when we have success. The last season or two show that crowds have suffered a lot with last seasonb being one of the worst for some time, some of the gates we as bad as the Roberst era ie sub 2,000 gates.
I often ask myself why? and the only amswer I can come up with is that we have been at the bottom or near it for so long that our locals naturaly think that the excitment comes from the fight to stay up. if we are comfortrable in mid table they ignore us. we can't win either way. damned if we do. amnd damned if we don't

Or people didn't like Buckle's arrogance and the unattractive football he often played. Hopefully the more affiable Ling and a different style will bring more in.Glostergull wrote:

Also, there are the local lads coming through. People who are disillusioned with the Premier League and the money spent and number of overseas players may well like to come along and support there own local lads, playing for their own local team.

Near the end of the season, a bunch of us moved towards the end nearest the away fans and I must say we did seem to make more noise. Hopefully that's gonna be the singers choice to stand this season.

Wasn't the move towards the Away end at Buckle's request? Be interesting to see if that is persevered with...
With the players coming out in the corner of the ground, it'd make for a decent welcome for the players at least.

Yeah i agree, i moved down there aswell. The atmosphere was good but i feel the view of the game is not as great as half way. I expect il be down there, or half way or even near boots talking to diffrent people. The joys of terraces, can go where you likeyellowsmiffy wrote: You guys were awesome when you all moved there! I got slated earlier in the season for suggesting that the die-hards moved there... but hey ho!

I think that the singers should go down near the away fans when the players are playing towards the away end. Then return to the middle position when we play towards the Family Stand.
