Probable line up vs the Brewers

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

Just thought i would canvas opinion as to what starting 11 Ling will go with for the season opener against Burton. It will be interesting to see if you lot come up with lots of different line ups. Cheers everyone.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

At the minite I think it will be something like:

Olejnik

Oastler Saah Ellis LRT

Morris Mansell O'Kane Macklin

Kee Howe

Though the defence is the only difficult one really weather he'd prefer Robertson to Ellis or Nicho to LRT (I chose LRT because Burton have Cleveland Taylor and we'd need a fast LB to deal with him as he tore Nico to shreads last time he came to Plainmoor) and Leadbitter will be battling to beat Oastler to RB position. The rest is what I'd expect in all honesty.

Surely it would be Ellis and Saah central defensive partnership?

Our best team is;

Olejnik
Oastler Robertson Saah Nicholson
McPhee Mansell O'Kane Morris
Kee Howe

Macklin I remain unconvinced about.

Assuming Kee is fit to play....

Olejnik
Oastler Saah Robertson LRT
Macklin O'Kane Mansell Morris
Kee Howe

Enough pace in both fullbacks for overlapping and then getting back

GK - OLEJNIK
RB - OASTLER
CB - ROBERTSON
CB - SAAH
LB - NICHOLSON
RM - STEVENS
CM - MANSELL
CM - O'KANE
LM - MORRIS
F - HOWE
F - ATIENO

What I think Ling will start with, but not what I would.

I reckon he will go with...

Olejnik

Oastler Saah Robertson Rowe-Turner

McPhee Mansell O'Kane Morris

Kee Howe

A pretty decent starting XI I reckon.

In all honesty, the only real decisions I reckon he needs to make are Robertson/Ellis; Rowe-Turner/Nico; McPhee/Macklin/Stevens; Kee/Atieno. I think the other seven positions are pretty much sorted.

Starting 11 for me:

Olejnik

Oastler Saah Ellis Nico

Macklin Mansell O'Kane Morris

Kee Howe

The only real choice for me is Nico or LRT but think he will start with Nico (years of service and experience will be the reason behind this).
