I have just read an article in tomorrow's Racing Post paper. The article is entitled " Osborne refutes Swindon closure rumours". The article reads Rumours doing the rounds on social media in recent days were yesterday refuted by Gaming International CEO Clarke Osborne with a sign put up by Taylor Wimpey at the site touting new homes pouring fuel on the fire.
It was an interesting day in the media, triggered by the leak of a memo from the Swindon Speedway promoter that gave the excuse of the imminent closure of Greyhound racing as the reason they were dispanding, said Osborne.
We are not closing and have no plans to close on December 23rd ( as was mooted) or any other date. " We have no idea where this eminated from, but I can only conclude that it is a result of our request to swap our scheduled meeting on boxing day as we are unable to accommodate the public in the numbers expected".
" The sign has been errected by Taylor Wimpey as they are the developer's of the housing next to the stadium, the scheme of which has been in the public domain since before the covid crisis".
" As you can imagine, this has again spooked the staff and trainers and I have every sympathy with them". " We just need to reassure them, I expect the speculation will ease when the erection of the main buildings physically starts on site".
Swindon Speedway closes down.

Dear hector, i'd thought i would re-post an article that appeared in the racing post sports paper on 30th September 2022. The stadium is alive and kicking and hosts excellent Greyhound racing several times a week. the reason that the speedway team folded is down to poor attendance, greyhound racing had over four times the supporters as the speedway.dawlishmatt wrote: 29 Sep 2022, 20:55 I have just read an article in tomorrow's Racing Post paper. Dawlsihmatt , do not let the facts get in the way of a good story, when someone has made their mind up that Osborne is the devil incarnate even hitting round the swede with the facts will not alter their thought processes.

Few more quid in houses than burgers though.somersetgull wrote: 03 Jan 2023, 18:34 As per opening post. Swindon Speedway closed down.
Not even owned or run by Clarke.
He owns the stadium.
He loses money from food and rental.
Has no effect on TUFC at all.
Blimey news travels slowly to Dawlish.
