Boycott 5-3-2

Post by Bristol_Gull »

Is it 532 / 352? Whatever the current formation is is not working.

There is no positioning or pressing amongst the back or middle 3 - the shape is completely dysfunctional.

There are signs the attacking play is coming together, but with inadequate supply (or experience) we’re not going to be getting 3-4 goals a game to make up for our defensive ineptitude across the squad.

Until we alter the shape (and some of the personnel) I can’t see us turning the tide

Boycott 532…

I suppose if enough fans put pressure on the club to change a manager, then the same could be done for something less final such as a formation?

I don't think fan pressure will make the manager change the formation. It's not a democracy and the manager has the executive decision. I also don't agree 5-3-2 is working and would prefer a more solid 4-4-2. Our priority has to be not losing and building a solid base to make us harder to beat. Then the football will come when the confidence grows........

Get a “4-4-2” chant going on three sides of Plainmoor 🎃

I’d play Wyatt LW and Jarvis RW just to get a 4-3-3 going =D
We need to drop this formation. You can’t rely on your full backs for all of your width at this level. 5-2-3 I’d be fine with, but really 4-3-3 with a couple of wingers on loan and I think many would be surprised. I don’t think all of our players are pants, I think they’re asked to do too much in the current formation.

Now we have wide options and more depth/quality we can play a much better formation. With players returning from injury/suspension and judging on tonights performance, we can now start getting ourselves well up the table.

Bring on Derby and fingers crossed for a replay!!!
