i cannae believe it!!

Post by bixieupnorth »

doing a little post match trawl of the bookies sites trying to work out how they'll price up friday night and qualification for final after tonights one sided display. failed to find what i was looking for, but did come across early prices for next season and they've made bloody crawley 5/1 favourites for title!! astounding, guess they're thinking old trafford money, big spend etc etc?

The problem is, there are enough fools that believe Crawley will be in the Premiership by 2014. There does seem a strong myth in betting that the difference between L2 and the Conference is very little and teams that come up always do well - we know first hand that this isn't the case. Noticed they've not released many though - so it doesn't look like a brand new squad for them, rather a few expensive additions, and Aldershot hardly walked the division when they came up with 105 points.

Bookies can't afford to take £1000's worth of bets at 14/1 ish (which I'd say is their true value) - otherwise they'd make a huge loss if they did win the league.

Having said that, I can't see any obvious candidates to be honest, as I don't think any of the relegated clubs will find it anywhere near as easy a they think - neither are as good as Gillingham when they came down and there's an element of mystery regarding Wycombe's success.

I'd say the bookies are about spot on there - from what I have seen of Crawley they are a L1 side already, and if they spend even more money this summer, they could walk away with the league. Nothing that is in the division from this season is anything special, and of those teams coming down only Bristol Rovers aren't in a state of flux.

I won't be backing themselves myself, but I don't see anyone offering much more than about 7s - even the most generous bookies.

I think that Exeter and Stevenage have shown that there isn't that much difference. And we are doing very well in our second season.
