Going to put my neck on the line. Dark humour - if that what it was - isn't always funny, as it usually at the expense of another person - in this case our manager. Whatever the intent of the message it created a negative impact and the counterargument to limit the culpability to achieve leniency is in my view really defending the indefensible.
