The 90% fan base is probably a little low. What is needed next season is fighters that play no nonsense football. It's going to be ugly, but if we do remain full time, Owers has to recruit warriors, because let's face it our players budget will be top 5 next season. We are the big fish in the pond.

Been to several national north games and clubs does that count merse ?
Some of grounds are laughable but some are very tight nit , and possibly not the most pleasant of places when things are not going your way. Harrogate town for example , smashing little ground for a reasonabley small club. Enjoyed my couple of visits there. Really up close and personal and we need the right players with the knowhow for what is going to be a game changer. The game changing that we have not done in national north

We need players who don't just try hard ....running about all the pitch doesn't mean that it's the right player. Floating the odd 25 yard free kick but apart from that nothing doesn't mean it's the right player. Doing some good byline work but nothing on the end of it does not mean it's the right player

Having the knowhow of the league you are in and the players with the knowhow of how to adapt too the level of football will be key.

Only Jerry but as you were using Stockport as an example of how difficult it is to get out of the NLS I figured you must have known more than the history books

That'll do; of course it will. Not trying to get 'one up on anybody' but I can claim to have seen Torquay United play at a National North club ~ the club you mention in the FA Cup; Harrogate Town and it went to pens didn't it!

...and that has been just as relevant in the National League too, except that too many people are distracted by the sexiness and attractiveness of having a nice local lad who plays in exactly that fashion as opposed to a nasty, mean growler who will kick arse and deliver.

As lucy6lucy says; what we need are warriors when what we've had are pretty boys and garden gnomes!

You don't need warriors at all. What you need are players who can play. Young can play.

What we need is a manager who can actually put a side out with a plan to beat the opposition, Owers clearly isn't that man.

Warriors won the day at Maidstone Dave, and they saved the day for the home team at Solihull last weekend.........warriors who overcame players who can play and nullified them before beating them in one case and almost beating them in another.

Our midfield melts like snowflakes in the sun as the game goes on and our defending is about as resolute as ADS will allow ~ eventually it all comes down as the number of late goals conceded this season shows.

Along with some warriors. Young gets criticised for not being a certain type pf player, can't see how that is his fault myself. It's up to the manager to put that type of player alongside him.

They were players, Merse. Just better players than ours.

No, you fill a team with good players and over a season they will easily trump a team of warriors. The problem for Young has been that the team has been filled with dross by Owers this season and by Nicholson in previous seasons. One had money, one didn't. Thems the facts no matter how you choose to deliver them.

No, what you need is a mixture. Russell and Fowler wouldn't have been half as successful in a Torquay shirt without Hockley alongside them.

Blimey there's a revelation, a team with better players would do better than a team with worse players!

My point was obviously that a team needs a blend of types, a team full of Eden Hazards would win nothing as would one full of Ngolo Kantes. But put them together and it's a whole different ball game.

This is what we have lacked, someone to free up Young to do what he is good at. It's no coincidence that our most successful recent spell came with the likes of Racchi in the side.
