Ex- Torquay United players keep popping up at the Turnbull Ground (home of Whitby Town FC). Last night it was the turn of Jody Banim. Mr. Buckle brought Banim to Plainmoor at the end of our promotion season (from the Conference that is) after he (Banim) had had an excellent game for - I think - Farsley Celtic (someone correct me if I am wrong). Last night the slightly portly Banim came on as sub. for Ashton United and played well, scoring their only goal (a give away). Personally I always rated Banim (although many United supporters didn't) and could understand what Mr. Buckle saw in him.
For those hundreds of Whitby Town supporters on this site who don't know last night's result we beat Ashton United 2-1 and now we are second in the league. If this goes on we'll be in the Conference North next season! But hold your horses, son! You know after following TUFC for 53 years what false drams are like....well, we live in hope. And we had a 'good' crowd last night (287), and the football was great. So the Northern Premier League is not a graveyard after all. So who said it was? Just rhetoric, son, just rhetoric....
It's not a graveyard!
It was Droylsden who we signed him from
