Gilbert!

Post by wivelgull »

Not being able to attend home matches as I now live 400 miles away I have been wondering about the fortunes of GILBERT. I saw him at the beginning of the one minute excerpt from the Barrow game so I know he is still alive. Can anybody give me any information of the present life and times of our beloved bird? Is the new incumbent energetic and willing to perform cartwheels while at the same time exploding in a burst of fireworks, or, like one or two old ones, merely content to aimlessly wander round the pitch before the match and then disappear. One yearns for good 'ol OneCanLasher.

Steve Gilbert's not bad Wivel; he's not an energetic Robin like swindon have got; but he's always there .Good ambassador, I'd say & good at giving kids a hug.

I'm not sure if it's the same Gilbert who had five minutes of fame on A Question of Sport, but the current Gilbert is a docile bird who doesn't threaten fans - even when they've got cheesy chips in their hands. Also, the costume seems to fit better as it doesn't look as if its had a prolapse. And unlike the team strip, he/she doesn't have bits falling off. .
