Shaun Harrad: Fund-raiser

Post by Gullscorer »

Lack of funds may scupper Nicholson's Harrad hopes:

I don't know how much more in the way of funding KN needs to keep Shaun at Plainmoor, but if 1500-2000 Gulls supporters each gave £5 or £10 to the Players Fund I'm sure that would help. Do it now. Here's how:

There are a number of ways to make a donation (either regular or one-off) :

1. Transfer money by BACS direct from your account to ours (Account details below).

2. Standing Order. Set up a standing order with your bank using the account details below. We can supply the standing order forms and send to your bank for you. You can complete this by calling into reception.

3. Credit/Debit card. You can ring the club or come into reception and give your card details.

4. Cheque. Make your cheque payable to ‘Torquay United FC’ and post or drop it off at the club.

The account details are: Account Number 29193860, Sort Code 30-88-04. Please use your name as the reference.

The Board of Directors will assure you that all monies received through this scheme will be used purely to assist Kevin in building the playing squad. Please note that all monies donated are non-refundable. The choice of player(s) will be that of the club's management team.

Shaun Harrad isn't worth that much. He was decent enough but he's coming towards the end of his career and scored a sum total of 2 goals for us. Would much rather have a young up and coming player to work alongside Blissett and Williams, that'd cost less and potentially have a sell on value. Get someone in on loan or find a promising youngster from the North/South level - although our lack of a scouting network could well put paid to that,

Senor, the Players Fund is available for the manager to use how he sees fit. A mix of youth and experience is always a good idea, and if KN thinks Harrad can do a job for us this coming season, that's good enough for me.

I'd say 1500 at a tenner apiece would be about right.

I'd also say that 60 people giving a fiver a week would be enough. Surely we can find that?

I was happy to contribute to the Players Fund last season when a group of fans were running the Club; at the moment I'm unsure who owns TUFC & if it's a professional company I don't see why I should subsidise them ?

I understand your stance on this matter. I still contribute to the players fund. But equally if GI come in(when/if) why should I contribute , knowing they are millionaires.

Bateson's a millionnaire. Collectively our Board are millionaires. Thea's a millionnaire. What's being a millionnaire got to do with it?

I've got a fiver in my wallet, does that mean you can reduce your donation by the same amount? Tesco have loadsamoney, will you refuse to pay for your tins of spam?

That someone has the money to fund a thing does not mean they will. This isn't Communist Russia, we don't have collective wealth. If we want to sign Harrad, we need to find about £300/week. The only place we're going to get that is from the fans.

Gaming International will probably be very happy with your donations.

Gaming International do not yet own the club; that deal may fall through even at this stage. In the meantime life goes on, and Kevin Nicholson is struggling to sign a player he wants for his squad on a miniscule budget. So forget about Gaming International; think about supporting the manager and his team.

They've been paying at least some of the club's wage bill for a while now. They're heavily heavily involved even if the deal hasn't been completed.

Yes, they have. But my understanding is that this is by way of a loan so whether or not the deal goes through, they will want their money back. Plus a favourable interest rate, no doubt !
