As far as I am aware, the Board have not issued a statement yet about their relationship between themselves & the Trust. All we have really is that the Board have said that they also want to purchase the ground IF it becomes available for purchase. The Trust have an AGM coming up with elections for all officers; I don't think there's any mandate from the Supporters at this stage until after all that's happened. I'm confused by the Trust's statement, & it appears that I'm not alone. Some people are considering withdrawing from the Trust & putting their money into the Players Fund instead; I'm still thinking about it. Think I'll wait & see until after the AGM; aren't some Board members also members of the Trust; aren't we all Torquay United fans ?

The TUST is the future of TUFC and MUST be allowed to grow and function in it's own right. Whether those who took over the club want to collaborate with the TUST or not as the case may be here, it doesn't matter at this moment in time. What matters is that in 3,4,5 or even 10 years time when ownership of TUFC once again goes tits up and the current owners for whatever reason decide they can no longer keep the club going, the TUST is the ready made rescue package waiting in the wings with the finances and healthy, dedicated, robust membership in place to step in.

Why again put yourselves through the trauma of what happened over the summer when you can build the foundations for the future security of the football club by building and growing the trust regardless of what is happening now? Just think of the TUST as being a 'rainy day fund' whereby you all keep adding to it until the day that super tornado hits again and then you have a back up plan for an event that you have always known was to come and now you are prepared for.

Just my thoughts anyway and hope you can compound the misery for the Harriers tonight and get a much needed 3 points.

That's an excellent post, Andy, and should make anyone (me included) who is wavering over their support for TUST to think again. There is no doubt that if the ground is available for purchase, it would be safer in the hands of TUST. I'm 100% behind the present owners, but at some time in the future if and when a new backer comes in to buy the club, he or she could try to sell the ground as has happened elsewhere and bring the club to its knees in the process. Interesting point made by another poster - is the ground part of the Cary Estate and therefore protected by a covenant as a playing field? I don't know the answer to that question.

The TUST AGM is coming up shortly. Can I suggest that anyone who is thinking of giving up on TUST at least wait to hear what is said at the AGM?

Well, things have just got a bit better, TUFC and TUST are on speaking terms again! TUST has just put out a message to its members to report on a fruitful meeting between the parties. Steve Breed had alluded to this in his half time chat on the radio broadcast last night and it has come to pass.

The best thing for the club is to bring in a local manager, Shaun Joyce or Russel Musker or both Dean Edwards was Assistant to Shaun Joyce years ago. Shaun is local an ex-pro and knows the Conference. Even if we need to go back to part-time to save the club. The Directors need to act now if the finances are not there.

Couldn't care less who the manager is now, it literally makes no difference. Cox was out of our league and how we got him in the first place working it seems without a proper wage is borderline unbelievable. No doubt they'll be trying to do something similar with the next one, if they don't just give it to the assistant.

This squad was scarcely good enough to survive from day one and I said as much at the time, Paul Cox I felt gave us a chance because while we'd be crap to watch we'd nick points and probably punch above our weight in terms of beating a few, with him gone that bit extra goes and we are left in a sorry mess. We are relegation certs and the only thing that will stop it is if we go out of business before that happens.

Don't think you can blame the club it was down to him excepting the situation if you went to the meeting at the start of the season he knew the situation. Perhaps the truth will come out in a few days time.

What if he'd been promised something and then said promise was withdrawn after he'd gone to the trouble of sorting out certain things?
