That confirms it for me they were out to mind Bowman up, he shouldn't have fallen for it but watch the tackle then the Southport player appeals! lol

Firstly, it seems we are playing some great football, and whilst it would be lovely to have a promotion push, entertaining football is very important after the last few years.

Secondly, seems its ok to grab someone round the neck, but not ok to simulate a headbutt. Not defending Bowman as such, but what a load of nonsense!!

Both should have gone. Clear Foyle (who knows Bowman) sent out his players with the specific job of provoking a reaction and got exactly this.

Bowman needs to learn and learn quickly because every team will have the same game plan from now on.

That said - with the sort of foul and then grabbing of the neck that followed - who on here can say they would not have stuck one on the to$$er?

At the stack Boeman is chatting to the manger he looks like he's laughing. 20 mins later he wasn't. Southport are probably aren't always fouling like that but it seemed to wind quite a few up. At the end Cameron and Luke young were fuming Richards had to hold them back

When we were in the Conference last time, there were one or two scrappy sides but I don't remember any as bad as Southport on Saturday. From the start, they were feigning injury to get our players booked or sent off. Brodie was only on the pitch thirty seconds before he suddenly keeled over clutching his head. To make matters worse, the ref & linesmen were conned by this play acting. Southport were a disgrace and they must have been instructed to use those tactics. Foyle must be feeling very proud of himself because the 'game plan' gained a point they didn't deserve. I wish them every failure for the rest of the season and relegation to Conference North where they deserve to be.

Bowman was severely provoked but must learn to count to 10 as my old ma used to say !
P.S. I do hope those highlights weren't filmed on a mobile phone ...........

There's going to be a lot of hard tackles, fouling, and gamesmanship in this League, and it's up to our players to acquire some maturity and rise above it, and not allow themselves to be wound up and react in the way Bowman did.

The correct reaction is to give the referee time to see who the real victim is and then respond to the incident by helping your team-mates to put the ball in the opponents' net, not to let them down by losing your temper and getting sent off.

You may well be right but I don't recall as much 'gamesmanship' when we were last in the Conference as we witnessed on Saturday. John Beck's Histon was a side very much in your face as Beck's sides always were. Nothing wrong with hard tackles as long as they're fair. Not defending Bowman, but in that split second when the red mist hits it is easy to react almost before you know what you're doing. I bet he regretted his actions immediately as he would have known he was 'off'. But yes - that's part of being a professional footballer to learn not to be wound up.

In the same way, Angus should learn not to get into running verbal exchanges with opponents. Hopefully, he will learn from playing alongside Aaron Downes to concentrate and just get on with the match as Aaron does - a model professional.

The criticism of Bowman has been over the top in all honesty, was clear they've had a plan and he's fallen for it but he's a young lad and hopefully he'll learn a valuable lesson. People make mistakes but his wasn't the worst crime I've ever seen!

Positives O'Achie looks better than I thought he was going to be, big and strong but his touch looks decent, got a turn of pace and some of the positions he got himself in were very promising, he probably should have scored the chance he made for himself which the keeper saved but credit the keeper and like I say he looks a good player. I'd like to see him partner Bowman when he's back. Great save by Ricey as well and it seems as though even with 10 men we had the better of the game which is promising.

Not over the top at all. Criticisms fully justified. Had it not been for Bowman's sending-off, we might have won the game.
However, what's done is done, and we must now look ahead to the next few games.

Well, you have a short memory! What about the matches against Crawley (Fatty Evans and Cheater Rayner) and I remember being at Altrincham when a massed brawl broke out at the end of the game because of the way their manager (can't remember his name) wound up their players. His assistant ended up trading punches with Shaun North!

Nevertheless I agree about Southport's tactics although Bowman should not have reacted.

Ahhhh yes ...... I had forgotten Crawley and Fatty Evans and Rayner his sidekick !!!

Mod gull it was graham heathcote. I was at that match, and I remember their gobshite of stewards, makes ours the bees and knees
