Yes, definitely a good move for Lee, and we wish him all the best (except of course when/if he plays against the Gulls).

His prospects at Bristol Rovers should be at least as good as others from Plainmoor who preceded him up the M5....

Thank you Lee for the first 5 years when you gave 100% and made the best of your limited ability but not for the last 2.
My memory is going to be of someone who offered no captaincy in those last 2 years, continually yelled at the youngsters if they made a mistake and couldn't complete a 3 yard pass.
In addition spending too much time posting lies on Twitter.
I wish you as much luck at Rovers as Mr Buckle.
Legend not a chance.

Definitely a good move for Lee and I wish him every success. Clearly it came down to money and, particularly at this stage of his career and with his family commitments, he can't be blamed for seeking to maximise that. I'm not surprised he's moved, but I am somewhat surprised that Rovers wanted him, particularly on a presumably larger salary than we offered to him.

Good luck to Lee at Bristol Rovers, although I'd have had more respect for him if he just admitted he's gone there for more money than Torquay offered him rather than this "new challenge" nonsense.

Deriding Mansell may make a few people end upo looking foolish. A good signing for both the player and for Bristol Rovers in my view.
Losing Poke and Mansell makes us weaker in my view. The problem is that we are stil lumbered with worse players on bigger money ie Harding and the other bloke who has permannently injured and hasn't played yet

Very rarely do I say this but......

I agree with Brucie.

Manse would be good at this level and I think Rovers have got themselves a good deal. May not have cut it last season, but has experience at this level and I think he will be hard to replace on the cheap

Dust off the Judas flag. He'll get pelters from me at the Mem. Congratulations to him and his agent.

Really pleased with this news. No disrespect to Mansell intended but I am glad he has moved on, it was definitely time.

As many have stated - he cared about the club, always gave 100%, was passionate and was good to have in the dressing room a few years back etc, etc, etc, that cannot be disputed, and also by the sound of it he is probably a decent enough bloke. On the other hand - a very, very, limited footballer whom I have never really rated much, yes full of passion, toil and huff and puff, but little else.Truly I cant understand how he was here so long.

Cant understand why so many rated him, fair enough if a load of yelling, arm waving and fist pumping floats your boat, but it doesnt make a decent footballer or indeed captain of the team.

This quote sums it up well -

And definitely, definitely not a Legend! That word is bandied about far too often and is probably only apt for a select few. A fan favorite? Yes! - In United folklore? Probably! - A Hall Of Famer? Maybe! - A Legend? NEVER!

Hopefully now we can get a midfielder on realistic wages and they can actually pass the ball with a little bit of accuracy.

Anyway, best of luck Lee, you must have a really good agent to convince Rovers so well done to both of you. I wish you future success and all that, as long as its not at Torquays expense. :)
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

No doubting Lee's commitment to the Club over the years but when he was good he was very good but on the other hand... For both player and Club this is the best time to part company. We need to have a mid-fielder who can pass to a team mate, open up opposition defences and, dare I add hit the target with some shots while Lee needs a fresh challenge.
For me as big a clearout as possible of the old and in with the new for CH to build his own squad.

Manse was well outclassed against virtually every opponent in L2 last year. The Conference is barely a step down in class from last year's L2. He won't be a good player for this level. The Manse of three years ago would have been unplayable, but not today. Exactly the same as Nico.

Not going to even bother going into the relative merits of Lee Mansell as a footballer, don't see the point he's moved on. No body can deny his commitment to the club and service he's given us, don't blame him for moving on, Rovers have obviously offered him more than TUFC were prepared to, best of luck Lee.

Good post Matt. I also do not see how a player who cannot pass or tackle in the 4th division will suddenly be "good at this level".

Mansell's performances, along with his leadership were a massive reason we went down last year.

I thank Lee for his service, I have been openly critical of his performances over the last two seasons and I feel this was the right decision for both parties. I didn't think he should have been offered a new deal in the first place as there is already far too many players on decent wages who are surplus to requirements. I think for this reason CH faces a tough season ahead but I am generally encouraged by the way he has gone about his business and I remain hopeful of a solid if not spectacular, season ahead. I am very surprised Rovers were interested in him at all and have given him a two year deal on top of that. For Lee personally it's a fantastic move.
