Steve Breed: "I'll be very surprised if Torquay ever become a League club again. I hope I'm wrong and I don't wish to be defeatist, but unless an investor comes in and buys the club or invests heavily, Torquay are going to be a Conference and below side from now on."

A little unwarranted, I feel.

The "struggling" new manager has won 3 of his last 4 games and may win another on Saturday against a team who have only won three this year.

Also, I don't agree with Mr Breed's theory that spending big = success. Only two sides in the Conference this year had budgets above 750K - one finished 1st and the other was Forest Green Rovers, who finished in mid table. Braintree, who finished 6th, had a budget below 250K and were part time. Halifax had a budget below 500K and are in the play offs. http://www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.co ... ey-league/

It's not how much money you have, it's what you do with it that matters.
