Start a game with either of the worst two forwards in our history and you can count on defeat. You may as well play Michael Poke up front. He couldn't do any worse.

Add Mansell and Nicholson to this list. If either are offered new deals in the summer I will think long and hard about coming back next season.

Hawley wasn't the worst performer today, or Nico. That accolade was absolutely nailed by Mansell

Neither of them are strikers in the conventional sense imo. Both are better at playing behind a front man, the much vaunted No. 10 if you like. Thats not saying they are particularly good at that role either of course but they will never score a lot of goals. I think Hawley had about one and a half good seasons in terms of goal return and was shite before and since.

Sadly, I suspect both will get offered 1 year deals.

I wouldn't start saving if I was you....

If you don't create chances, your strikers won't score goals. How many strikers have we tried during this shambles of a season, and how many goals have they scored respectively? It's not all about the inadequacy of the strikers, it's about the complete inability of the entire team.

It's both.

But Hawley and Benyon have both failed at far too many clubs to be considered unlucky. Both are crap.

In the vast majority of games recently, they have created more than the other team. To me, thats the worry. If you went by stats the points return should be a lot greater. Basic lack of quality and as you say, the sheer amount of different strikers is stunning.

The fact is none of the strikers we've tried have scored. It can't be coincidence. They can't all be completely useless. It must have something to do with the quality around them.

Without doubt a mixture of both and an overall lack of belief amongst the players.

I find it strange most of the posters on here lump Mansell and Nicholson together in their derogatory comments.
They may be friends off the field but they totally separate players , the only thing in common is that they have been here many years.
In my my opinion Nico has been been playing well recently and apparently according to eye witnesses had a good game today.
I am sad to say that Manse has been shocking for the last two, seasons.
Complete inability to create anything from midfield and Headless Chicken is I am afraid an apt description.
