Pitch covers would be an excellent investment, if the cost of sorting the drainage(properly) is prohibitive.

5 second google search found this, and other sites......http://www.tildenet.co.uk/sport/pitch-protection.html and this..http://www.covermaster.com/Football/Field-Covers/

Read through the TFF that was a laugh, seem to think TUFC is some how a special case, despite pitch covers helping football clubs across the globe they some how would make no difference to us, and according to them, we on this site have no idea on photosynthesis, and apparently how do you cut the grass, treat, repair and line mark it, well all I say to that is, Yeovil managed to do all of that, and didn't take their covers of until Saturday Morning of the game that was due to kick-off at lunchtime.

If the ref was convinced the game would be unplayable when he made that 9am inspection, he would have called it then. Do you suppose he gave us until 12 just for a laugh - to maximise the inconvenience for everyone? The fact there was a further inspection at 12 indicates there was a chance the conditions were 'in the balance', and therefore was doing what he's employed to do by giving the game every chance of going ahead. I really think some of our support are unhealthily cynical. What do you suppose was the reason for this rogue, pointless delay...?
Exactly. The fact people to be so enraged about this makes me fear for their health.

I don't think its got anything to do with people thinking there was a conspiracy against us or anything else. Its no wonder this farcical situation has provoked such debate. We had a dry morning on saturday and there still was only about zero chance of getting the game on.
With rain forecast on Tuesday there will be even less chance of that game going ahead than saturdays.
Tuesdays match is actually a rearranged game and even that isn't going ahead. It will have been called off twice - I am not sure when the next home game is - Accrington maybe buts lets face it - if it rains anytime around the day of the game that won't be on either.

had a look on the TFF site to see what the problem was with pitch covers; obviously it isn't all straightforward because one of the posters on there discussing the issues is, I believe, one of the groundsmen ! However, even with about zilch horticultural knowledge, I should have thought that if our pitch was playable when inspected on Friday afternoon :if we had then been able to cover it, it should have been ok for Saturday ? Really, really hoping we can play on Tuesday; old manager/new manager situation is potentially really bizarre !

Today was supposed to be dry but its hammering down here. With another rain band coming in overnight/tomorrow morning we will have the same scenario - game on in the morning. No significant rainfall during the day then it will be called off at 3 pm because the pitch is waterlogged.

Brucie, Brucie, Brucie - have you always been soooooo negative ?? "Always look on the Bright Side of Life" mate !! Weather here in Torbay is SUNNY .... just right for a good game of football. The forecast I heard was that there will be more rain tonight but it will pass through quickly and will be clear of us by mid-morning. This gives the ground staff about 8 hours (including lunch and coffee breaks) to get the pitch playable by 7.45. However, you make a valid point about problems caused by collapsed drains. If this is the case at Plainmoor, it will have to be sorted at the end of the season. More expense ...... let's hope Eunan's move to a Premier club goes ahead in the summer ! :scarf:

Not the groundstaff fault at all - however I reckon we will need no rain at all between now and 7.45 pm tomorrow for the match to go ahead. There is a difference between being negative and realistic.
A thorough soaking of the pitch overnight will lead to exactly the same scenario as we have had for the past postponements.
Because the same area of the pitch won't drain there will only be one outcome I'm afraid. Hopefully I am wrong as I have taken time off work again.
I don't live anywhere near Torquay,I am not a member of the groundstaff,I don't work for the met office and I am not the referee.
Taking all that into consideration I have been right that the last three matches have been postponed. I don't take any credit for that - any fool would have come to the same conclusion far earlier than the powers that be did.
BUT any significant rainfall between now and kick off time tomorrow will see the game go the same way as the others have.
A dry spell following a period of rainfall won't make a jot of difference. Look at the Burton/Bury games same scenario/same outcome.
