Just wanted to make a special mention for Chris Brass who took the time to come along and have a chat to all the lads and parents about the club and their plans moving forward. He spoke very well and with obvious passion for the club, the area and it's supporters making it abundently clear he is keen to stay hear for the long term. It was also refershing to hear how he and Alan Knill are committed to the youth structure and will make every effort to come along to some of the Academy training sessions and even go as far as taking the odd session from time to time when this is possible.
For me, this epitomises the new management team and is in start contrast to the previous set-up. I attended just about every game, training session and meeting lastseason for the Academy and never saw either of the previous manegement duo in attendance. That is not necessarily a criticism as it's not for me to pass judgement on how their time is consumed within the club etc. However, it was fantastic for the lads to hear from the new management of the club who made it very clear they each youngster has an opportunity to potentially grace the hallow turf of plainmoor one day. For me as a Torquay United Supporter for 35+ years and my lad who has grown up to be a Torquay United supporter playing for the club he loves, this was wonderful to hear.
I think it's safe to say the club appears to be in very safe hands both with the first team and with all the hard work Geoff Harrop and his team are doing to foster the future of the club.
