Well, a couple of things spring to mind. Firstly, no one was complaining about him last year when we were in the playoffs. Secondly, I think Dinger has had Taylor at two (maybe 3) different clubs now. Maybe, to us, he looks like a bumbling idiot, but to Dinger, he's the prefect foil?

Matt, Martin Ling has only ever been manager of 3 different clubs, Shaun Taylor did not work as a coach at Orient or Cambridge.
Shaun Taylor started his coaching career at Elite youth development centres (8-16 year olds) as head coach of their Exeter based coaching school, they later signed up with Torquay and are now known as Torquay advanced development centre's, the Exeter based centre was first moved to dawlish after they signed up with our youth set up, then to Ashburton and now I believe they actually train in Torquay.
He left there to take up a coaching role at Exeter. before joining up with former team mate Martin Ling at Torquay, of course though you may right he could be a perfect foil for Lingy, time will tell on that.

Oh, ok, I thought Taylor and Ling came as a package. Fair enough then, not sure it takes away from my argument though, perhaps Dinger wants Taylor to be a yes man or to put out cones for training sessions.

As some love their facts, here are some facts . . . . .
"Shaun Taylor in June 2005 moved to Forest Green Rovers as assistant to manager Gary Owers. Their contracts were terminated by mutual consent after a poor start to the 2006-07 season."

So your reason for wanting Taylor to be relived of his coaching duties is that he has proved he isn't up to being manager?
And yet you enthusiastically advocate replacing him with Chris Brass, who as York manager got them relegated to the conference before being sacked with them in 19th.

Apologies, that is something about Taylor I did not know, I bow down to you sir Troj....Trojan 67 wrote:As some love their facts, here are some facts . . . . .

As for the rest, I have my opinion, which is shared by many, only need to read through facebook for the proof of that, others have their opinions, I accept those opinions as we are all entittled to have them, as said time will soon tell.
And if I am wrong, I unlike some, I will say I am wrong.

Both Ling and Taylor have "form".

Oh, and Dave, you're my mate as an equal so stop bowing.

just for the record, I would like to say that I saw Shaun North take training sessions which you could tell had been well planned and the players respected him.

Unless I have missed a trick here, I was under the impression that Shaun Taylor is a 'defensive coach'? If so, in this respect I have to say he has done a good job as we have looked healthy at the back for most of the season (with the exception of Nicholson). Both Saah and Downes have been immense this season and I truly hope we are able to keep both of them for the season to come. Left and right back I am less comfortable with. Yes, Joe Oastler played well against Morecambe but I also remember the times he has been skinned and I also feel he hasn't performed as well as he did last season. Then there's Nicholson. I cannot argue that he is a club legend. However, you cannot let your heart rule your head in football. This season again we have conceded a number of goals from the left hand side of the pitch, teams are aware of this weakness (especially Cheltenham) and continue to exploit it. I think it's time we found a new player for this position. If this isn't Cruise, then release him!
Personally I don't want North - probably the reason he has been sniffing around the club as he knew the bullet was coming! - Other than throw the ball up in the air for the centre half's, I never really saw him doing anything different or of any real value from an onlookers point of view.

'healthy at the back'
Are you mad man!?
How many times this season have we conceded the goal thats cost us a point or 2 or all 3!!
Last year when we were grinding out the 1-0s then the defense was a bit more 'healthy'

Taunton, you just did a great job of arguing your point, you said Shaun Taylor is a 'defensive coach'? If so, in this respect I have to say he has done a good job as we have looked healthy at the back for most of the season, then you go to first tell that actually Nicholson hasn't been that good, and then well actually Oastler hasn't been near his standard of last year, so implying that actually we have had a problem with both full backs all season.
So of shaun taylor had done such a great job as defensive coach, what the hell has happened with our full backs then, aren't they part of the back four.

What I meant specifically but obviously hasn't come across in the post is that he had done well with what he had. From a central defensive point of view I believe we have looked solid - it's the left / right back areas where my concerns are. I wonder if people think we have been defensively poor centrally, are others so keen to retain the services of Downes and Saah.
