Simple Questions

.............. that may explain our plight

(a) How much did we get in transfer fees for Ellis,O'Kane and Oljelnik at the end of last season?

(b)How much of that did we spend in the transfer market on bringing players in for this season?

Dont know the answer to (a) but am pretty sure the answer to (b) is NIL assuming that Bodin was paid for by the Fairy Godmother

There is an old saying that goes something like "Failure to Invest and you Invest in Failure"

(Interested to know hom much other clubs down with us have spent in the transfer market)

I'm sure I'll be corrected but I believe O'Kane was 175K (His release Clause) Ellis 75K and Olejnik 300K though that's what I remember hearing around the time they left I don't know if they were the correct figures or not I''m sure someone more in the know will know better than I do.

So we brought in 550k and spent 20k on Bodin. No wonder we are weeks away from being a non league side. Bodin is a non league player as are a few others. Howe thinks he should be at a higher level and he'll probably get a move higher up in the summer but he'll come straight back down again. Good points SBG and although the board have sanctioned the belated loan signings we craved months and months ago it would appear that it is a futile attempt to help us beat the drop. We have to commend the board for helping to finance the bench but they have chucked all their eggs in one basket and ignored the playing side. That basket has been dropped from a great height and all the eggs are gone. Just like our football league status. Thanks.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

That's a better photo Andy, if Knill doesn't stay I would much prefer him in charge next season.

He's the one yellow hero who makes me happy!

As a general rule i despise animated stuff but got watching Spongebob because my little one likes it and it's just my cup of tea. It's like a bizarre slapstick animated version of Bottom with Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson, quality too!

On todays evidence I would vote for spongebob as manager, only problem with that is, his faithful sidekick Patrick ' Shaun Taylor' is already at the club.. :)

Thing to remember is what ever figure the club received in transfer payments would be subject to tax liabilities so £550k is not the final amount that would land in the club's bank account, also most of these payments would have been phased, so cash flow comes into it aswell.

However do agree, was talking in Boots/Laces after the game and said to a few think the damage was done back in December/January, most of us could see all things with regards to the team were not right, some, myself included started to talk about a relegation scrap, while you know who was talking about a plastic pitch and League 1.

We are fire fighting a situation that should never have happened in the first place, I said back in late November this playing group needed some help via the loan market, had the club done that we would not be in this sorry mess.

When the curtian comes down on this gawd awfuls eason, that is the time for finger pointing, thats the time to aportion blame, right now we are in a relegation fight, one we can still survive, so what is needed now is full support for the team and nothing else.

Yeah, no probs Coley. I usually meet up with a few of the lads from here at away games once inside the ground and we go and stand at the back and try to get songs going so another voice would be welcome. I'll let you know if i can make it or not but my track record for planning to go to a game miles away and actually getting to it isn't great. I'm more than hopeful though.

That was my idea when i first met them but i don't think i've succeeded!

I used to keep myself to myself but still sing when before i met anyone but now it's all systems go. This site has also enabled me to open up a bit too, perhaps not a wise thing!
