I've left jobs to go to what I thought was a better job, only to regret it. Doesn't mean that you don't enjoy the company of the people you worked with and the job you were doing. Added to that, football is entertainment.NickGull wrote:If he has a soft spot then surely he wouldn't have screwed us over the way he did in 2011? If he cared in the slightest he'd have had the decency to wait until our season was over before sorting his future out. He's a tool, I think it's a total non-event that he has been at Plainmoor recently and I would imagine it's more to do with the kids theory.

That's fine, and I understand that. As SNW says though, it was the way he did it.cambgull wrote:

Well, actually, was he really that sneaky? Would you openly tell any company that you are intending to leave when your new job isn't sorted? Some might say yes, some no, depends usually on the situation. But would you tell the customers you're dealing with? Of course you don't. You would never tell your customer tell you're leaving before having a job sorted because they won't have confidence in the product you're selling.SuperNickyWroe wrote:agree with that bit.

If you actually think about some of the stuff you hate people in football for doing, then compare to what people around the world do every day, without anyone batting an eyelid, you really wouldn't see many differences.

I'm with SNW on this issue.
I wouldn't have minded as much if he simply stated "I've taken this side as far as I can" and announced his intentions to apply for the Rovers job. Instead, he undermined our very real chances of promotion by saying nothing. The squad was clearly affected by this. They basically failed to turn up for some of the last games that season; let alone the actual Play offs. Our teams was absent in that final. The way he left all our key player's contracts run out reaked of dishonesty. If he intended to stay there was no way he would have let all those contracts run out. Total disrespect to the club, and terribly unprofessional.
To return to the premise you are all suggesting - that if Joe Average left his job to try and get a better one. It's fine for Joe Average to go to a better job. It is not okay for him to disrupt the rhythm of the office and then try and poach some of his best pals to join him at his new company.

My ten pence worth is can you not remeber were the club was under him and were it is at now. Give the guy some credit we did have some good cup runs.
I credit him for that. The 4 years were good, theres no denying it. However the way he screwed us over when we had a real chance of promotion still cuts deep.
