away terrace closed
becoming a very regular feature these days, i can appreciate the cost savings behind not having to steward/police that end, and tyheres not enough home fans to justify opening it either, but its been sorely underused since the bench opened hasnt it
just oxford exeter and maybe vale have been allowed in since the turn of the year by my reckoning?? and maybe just bradford and def gas for remaining games
i wonder what the long term plans are for it, its a decent stand, but to have it closed is a great shame, the experiments towards the end of last season letting us in there seemed to go quite well. but as the bench seems to have drained fans from the family stand, do we really need this stand too
not sure where this threads going, but do we charge away fans more to sit, or do we abide by the seemingly ignored rule that away fans should be charged no more than equivalent accommodation in home areas

If Chesterfield charge me £21 to sit in the Proact then i want their fans to pay £21 to sit in the bench and close the terrace. Why should they f*cking get away with it?!
It's a shame that the terrace is underused as i've always thought that a ground with home fans behind one goal and away fans behind the other ( however few there may be ) is how it football is meant to be but obviously stadiums and grounds evolve and change and it can't always be like that.
We need money and most other clubs treat us like sh*t anyway including at Crewe last season which was the worst case of underestimation i've ever experienced as a Torquay fan. They gave us one block of seating in the middle of one stand and we were packed in like sardines in the seats with empty blocks of seating to the right and to the left of us but they wouldn't let us use them. Plus clubs nearly always close the terracing to stick us in the seats and they've been doing this for years. No, f*ck 'em and stick them in the bench. It's about time we fought back and did something that benefits us for a change. Open the terrace and charge them £20 if they want to stand and not sit.
I'd pay £20 to go and stand on an away terrace rather than £20 to sit because i love standing.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Don't see the positive of having it open when there isn't enough away support to fill it? As said, it's just a waste of resources. Plus doesn't it cost more for away fans to sit in the bench rather than stand in the away stand? Can only be a good thing.

Firstly congratulations on a great and much needed win last night Don't worry it will be well used when we arrive. The tickets for us against you will not go beyond the sale to Season Ticket holders. Lets hope for a good entertaining game with nothing on the result!!!

Massive club like the famous Bristol Rovers selling out the away end at Torquay United and to season ticket holders at that. We shall have to roll out the red carpet for such illustrious visitors...

I think its exactly the right thing to do and put them in the seats if they are not bringing that many. Ive had this done to me when going to many away games over the years. Not much extra taken when Dagenham bring 50 odd or the 90 odd Rotherham/Chesterfield brought. At least the club may make a few quid on saturday as quite a few York fans are coming down for a weekend away. So if 300 in the seats then more cash for us.
