Dillon De Silva
Showed glimpses of potential, but it was fleeting and he lacked consistency. Feel like there is a player in there, but we rarely played to his strengths for him to possibly show it

Not a CO fan so this post is not in defence of him - I am firmly in the camp that he was funding the club for ulterior motives
That being said, the value of the assets have been that high long before CO took over the club. They were as high as £1.5m back in 1998, and increased by a further £1.4m in 2012 when the Bench was completed

Torquay United v Aveley F C Saturday 24 Feb KO 3pm
Torquay 4-2 Aveley
More in optimism of a crowd getting behind to fire on the team, than expectation we will win. As many have said, the most excited I have been going to game in a long while
COYY!

Pretty sure we have been dropping like a stone already in the last few years and disappearing altogether was his objective

Imagine fans and the Supporters Trust wanting the club run by someone who cares, who doesn't want to develop the ground for property, who communicates with supporters and one who hasn't overseen the lowest period in the club's history.
Sounds like too much to ask!

Completely agree, in the circumstancesSouthampton Gull wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 20:14 I think the council have looked after us as best they could given the current financial climate. They weren't duped by Osborne so fair play to them I say.

CO did not finance the club out the goodness of his heart. He wanted the ground for his own purposes. Clearly realised from recent discussions that he cannot get what he wants, so has pulled the plug. I imagine he has timed the announcement until today to put the blame at the foot of the planned protests.bringbackthecowshed wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 14:20 If Clark Osborne hadn't financed the club all these years there would be no Torquay United.
If TUST hadn't waged a hate war against him he would still be here, I hope they are satisfied now

Worrying times ahead - points deductions, best players will likely be sold and a potential transfer embargo?

Echo Dave's comments above. On paper I don't think there is a big difference in the squads in terms of mix of experienced players, young players and players who have joined from this level, and therefore probably budget.TommyGunn wrote: ↑19 Feb 2024, 14:37 It was at the start of the season. Christmas it was a top three finish. Now it is a min 7th finish. April despair?
Why are we so shit?
Compare 2024 squad with some of the players of 2018/19 that played in the national league south. Some real quality players back then for this league.
Has Gary Johnson really got the same budget?
Jamie Reid.
Ruairi Keating.
Saikou Jenner.
Brett Williams.
Opi Edwards.
Conner Lemon Evans
Kalvin Lombombo Kalala
Jake Andrews.
Frankie Vincent.
A 6 years younger Asa Hall.
Kyle Cameron.
Jean-Yves Koue Niate
Samir Nabi.
Ben Wynter.
Liam Davis.
Ryan Dickson.
Jamie Sendles White.
Shaun Macdonald.
The difference is this team have massively underperformed, the squad is not balanced, the tactics are non existent, fitness levels are dire and we have not utilised the loan market effectively.
