Torquay United V Concord Rangers 17 Nov 2018

Torquay have nothing to fear from any side in this league. We now have an experienced top class manager for the first time in many years and, even if he cannot retain some of the present players, he is more than capable of filling any vacancies. I confidently expect Torquay at the top of the league by the end of the season.

Torquayunited v St Albans 13/11/18

It is sometimes forgotten that Torquay are a full-time team in a part-time league. We should be more than a match for any team over a full 90 minutes.

Facing Reality

Not many years ago Torquay played Plymouth and Exeter on a regular basis.
The gulf that now exists between Torquay and its neighbours was emphasised from last nights cup results.
Plymouth beat Championship Bristol City away
Exeter beat Ipswich
Torquay lost to part-timers Oxford City two leagues below Exeter.
Enough said

Who stays? Who goes?

Gulliball wrote: 28 Apr 2018, 18:48 The strange thing about this list though, is that the one person under contract + 6 out of contract players that he wants to keep were all originally signed by predecessors. If all do re-sign then we'd go into next season with the majority of the first team signed by someone else, despite that being so often cited as why Owers has been hampered so far this season.

What Owers is looking to do now is, in effect, keep the core of the squad and add to it, which is exactly what he had to do when he arrived in September. I would say this list (not one Owers signing offered a new deal for next year) is a reflection that he didn't do this at the first time of asking. Let's hope he does better second time around.

[BBvideo=560,315]ps[/BBvideo], Owers also has a 'maybe' list (Jakub Sokolik and Neal Osborn).
If I remember correctly Nicholson's 'maybe list' suggested that if they could not find a new club he would reconsider. There is no suggestion that this is Owers condition.

Who stays? Who goes?

Well at least their is no pussy-footing about unlike his predecessor who produced the absurd two lists.

Gateshead vs Torquay United 12.8.17

Doubtless SG will come up with an exemplary reason why it is not Nicholson's fault.

Don't take your eye off the ball

Fonda wrote: 12 May 2017, 11:07 Would that need to be done by 'somebody living in Torbay'? Surely that opportunity is available to anybody?
Yes of course. It could be more effective though coming from a resident rather that someone outside the area.

Don't take your eye off the ball

Has anyone living in Torbay written to The Editor letters page to drum up support? It would be interesting to see if it is published.
Details of how to vote could be included.

Bad Vibes. Let's get them out of the way

Excellent posting royalgull - with you all the way.
It is hardly a rescue act when, as manager, YOU are responsible for the club's relegation position in the league.
If Torquay win on Saturday I am sure there will be great jubilation from the fans but about what? Escaping relegation from the depths of full-time football! How can the fans' expectations have fallen so low?

The truth is out should Nicholson be sacked

How can you say SG that I was attacking him personally? I said his request was arrogant - no suggestion that he is arrogant.
We are all guilty of wording things badly and this request did look dictatorial.

You san say please SG and still appear demanding. Like the teacher who says to the child 'please put that book away'. AS you and Louis are administrators you should have a more tolerant approach to views that are not in accordance with yours.

Excellent post Merse I agree with every word.
Louis: That is an arrogant request to ask the person who voted Yes to come forward. (I haven't voted incidentally in case you think it was me). Everyone is entitled to their view in privacy if that is their wish.

Nicho backed

When GI arrived on the scene I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt until such time as they were officially ratified by the League as owners of the Club and their subsequent actions would show their intentions.
This has now come about and the statement this week that they back Nicholson and are prepared to give 'a llittle bit of extra funding' really shows their hand. If ever drastic action was required it is now before it is too late. This pathetic sop to the fans is nothing short of an insult and shows their true intentions.
They obviously have no regard for the playing side of the Club and money is all conquering to them.
The sole reason Nicholson was not sacked, which he admitted he was expecting himself, is because they would have to pay him off.
The future of Torquay United looks very bleak indeed even after today's uninspiring win over the bottom club.
