Staying Up - Relegation Battle

For 6th tier football, part time could easily be justified, I wouldn't have an issue with it myself, just so we can get more stable off the pitch.

Brewers boy wrote: 26 Mar 2024, 09:42 This season Archer has scored 2 and Collins 1. I wouldn't call either of them strikers. Asa hall has scored more than both of them put together and he's been a sicknote for half the season.
Their goal to game ratio isn't what I'm questioning, it's the fact they are listed as, or are strikers, somebody said we only had 1 fit striker on Sat, when we also had these two as well..👍

They were the "form" team in the league - and we beat them.
If they'd had beaten us 4-0 you'd have probably said they were the best team in the NLS!
You can only beat what's in front of you. End of.
I was coming back to someone who called me out on the fact we only had 1 fit striker, which wasn't the actual case, whereas the opposition did...

Forgot about Ash, agreed, at this level I'd deffo keep,I actually still rate Collins, but the past few appearances he's looked like he knows he's off, it's about 6 max from about 20players I'd keep.

100% Dean and Booth,Lovett hasn't had a chance but he's always looked good when given a chance,Stobbs the jury is out on for me,Archer is raw but I'd keep, Dawson if fit not being sarcastic, I'd keep. The rest I'd allow to go.you can't go wholesale and bomb out the lot, a brand new 20 players or squad would take ages to bed in.

So Archer & Collins don't count?, both listed as strikers, H&R played midweek, are PART TIME and had 1 fit striker, it's hard to judge them on that performance alone

Not sure who's under contract?, being upfront, probably none of them, however if you're starting over with a brand new squad, the chances of doing anything are remote, it never works, so I'm guessing 4 or 5 most definitely will be kept on.

Staying Up - Relegation Battle

It's funny how fans see things differently, for me 17 losses would suggest this leagues been tougher than we thought it would be, even some of those wins in the 1st ten games we rode our luck, Aveley away, Braintree at home etc, Truro at home battered us, even Slough at home, Aveley, Taunton recently etc, all at times have made us look like the part timers, H&R yesterday had 1 fit striker so it hard to judge them on yesterday alone, they are part time and had played mid week, We are still full time with vast experience..Its a combination of underachieving, tougher opposition and behind the scenes issues have all played their part in where we are, I'm not entirely sure who out of this bunch I'd keep?.

Some weekends you just get all the results going in your favour, at one stage Welling,Truro and Taunton were all winning, I've zero doubt Truro will stay up, I'd be worried if I was a Dartford fan, Eastbourne have picked up a bit, Taunton have thrown away 4 points in a week, I still think with the players we have we should ok, but looking at the league as a whole, it's a much harder league than all of us thought, the level isn't bad, I can't really say I've seen much of a difference from ourselves to many other clube who are part time, I don't see much changing next season as well.

Torquay United v Hamptom & Richmond Borough Sat23rd (Devon Day)

It may sound a bit random, but I'm wondering if ECFC fans in attendance may be wanting H&R to win, Mel Gwinnett their manager was with ECFC in many roles for a very long time, and yesterday I saw H&R were guests up their, using the facilities etc, so there's a link..

The thing is here is this, people are saying they are willing to give Smurthwaite a chance, like you're at the supermarket and you decide to give Morrison's beans a chance over Branstons, or Daz over Ariel..... Smurthwaite is not the answer, we'd be knackered in no time at all, like I say, he's Clarke Osborne in disguise.

Everyone at Port Vale hates him so what - As he was beaten up badly by some of their so called supporters no wonder he couldnt wait to jump ship. Inexcusable i'd say.

Who knows he might not even be involved but he's got plenty of financial clout behind him and turns up to watch his team play - there are 2 redeeming qualities for starters.

If we do get a new owner then that will be a plus. I'd just rather give whoever it is a chance before carping before the ink dries on the contract.
Talking shit??, are you for real?, Smurthwaite is a clown pal, you know, I know, Gulls fans deep down know it,Vale fans know it, Carol Shanahan knows it, ...how many fans would like to get their hands on CO?, Plenty would, it's no different with Vale fans against Smurthwaite, trust me on this, if he gets his mitts on TUFC, our problems won't be Beaconsfield away next season, we'll be a bona fide "basket case" in no time and cease trading.Thats not me being negative listening to rumours etc etc, he would run us into the ground.

Neither appear to have any redeeming qualities.
I couldn't of put it any better, he sounds like Barry Chuckle...

And no, I don't mean Wiki....
I wouldn't go by Wikipedia myself, but searching Norman Smurthwaite/Port Vale fans....trust me on this, it took a few moments to read/scan hundreds of posts about him, a few bad posts here and there you can kinda accept, but not hundreds all pretty much saying the same thing, he's the last thing we need right now
