Aveley F C vs Torquay United Sat 2 Sept KO 3pm

I’d love a clean sheet but I’m not sure we will manage that, Aveley 1 - TUFC 2

Who's in control?

As a reasonably good club cricketer, I wear contacts to play in, but have been advised by the optician to not shower in them, do I don’t. The contacts are out ASAP and my glasses go on. So post match, he’ll be removing them.

Torquay Utd v Worthing 12/8/2023 15:00

Sorry all, please ignore my last posting, not got to grips with the tech! Cricket was away at a horrible ground against a horrible club, had we been rained off early I might have tried rushing down.... reading the above I’m glad I didn’t but also pi55ed we didn’t get rained off as we had a horrid game!

What I’m struggling with here is GJ may want the players to go route 1, but after 20 / 30 mins, are the players not capable of thinking this isn’t working, let’s try something else?

Very disappointing that after 2 games our Keeper is hands down POTY!

Torquay Utd v Worthing 12/8/2023 15:00

Cricket day for me (was rained of last week hence me making it to Dover). Hope it’s a good game, safe trip to everyone, and TUFC win.

Nick, are you still playing for Worthing CC?

I agree Desperado, just knowing what to do will help out when we are on the back foot.

What concerned me on Saturday was that he struggled to get round his marker who looked to be struggling with fitness in the last 15/20 mins.

2-1 Torquay Utd victory, should have enough at home but I don’t think we will keep a clean sheet.

MOTM - Dover

I’ll agree, WJD looked the part, Halstead played well and made a couple of excellent saves, no chance with either of the goals.

The rest, sorry guys, I need to see more!

Good point Portgull! A proper experienced centre back is needed, get him in there and I think Donnellan or Tomlinson would be OK, they’ll have someone pulling their strings telling them what to do!

Dover Athletic v Torquay United - 3pm 5th Aug

We looked decent early on and Dover were either poor or made to look it.... 2-0 up and we hit the post / had it cleared off the line ( I was up the other end) which could have made it 3-0, that would have probably killed the game. Dover to be fair didn’t give up and got themselves back in to it, fortunately at least we took a point!

Jarvis is a big lad but he’s going to be up against big lads every week, so please stop continually banging long balls up the park, he can’t / won’t win them all. As has been mentioned, it was a very good surface, so play it on the surface!

McGavin....that was a fairly invisible performance wasn’t it!

The late chances from Jarvis and Ash, well one needs to go in, at least the latter hit the target making the keeper save it, but believe me the save was a save that any keeper at this level should make, definitely not a worldy!

Pre-Season Friendlies

Re Dover, we as a club (players and fans) have to just be positive. Last season has gone, nothing can can be done about but just move forward. Play decent football when the occasion / conditions allow and win games. Hopefully have a plan B of playing ugly if and when we need to.

As GJ said last time, “judge me after 10 games”. I think everyone be they pro or anti him will be doing that this season!
