Firstly, thanks again to Weymouth for their generous offer!
Secondly, Terras 1 - Torquay 2, just enough to get over the line!

May be CO has been using that well known accounting practice of straight line appreciation rather than depreciation!
Whoever comes in, I would hope, will do a drains up job on the financials!
I’m hoping for someone in the Mike Bateson mould, just done steady / sensible stewardship!

Algernon without Mike Bateson operating him would have been more communicative than CO!

CO was no doubt using his cash on a “speculate to accumulate” basis, £5m spent is nothing if you get £10m, £15m back. We know he has no interest in football and this was purely a business venture!
If he and his board and GJ had really cared, they’d have engaged with the fans, the town to a greater extent and tried to more people interested, which would or at least could have reduced the losses!
From now on, we have to show full support to the players, get behind them and be the extra man on the field!
COYY!
Had there been more enthusiasm behind the scenes we may have progressed a little further in the FA Cup, bowing out year after year in the very early stages costs you dearly!

It’s been hard work recently and the work will only get harder, but should the worst happen and we end up as Torquay 24 or whatever, there is hope. Look at Aldershot many years ago when the original entity folded, they started in what was then the Ryman sponsored Isthmian League Div 3, in front of very big gates! Slowly but surely they climbed back up the pyramid.
If we did the same, the Western League would give local fixtures, easy away travel, good days out for the supporters if a winning run started, may be a feel good factor? Obviously not where we’d love our club to be, NL / L2, but may be again one day…
Nil sympathy for Osbourne, yes he’s put money in but only for his personal business interests! Had his new stadium plan actually been credible, the council may have engaged with him! Had he ever engaged with us, may be (just may be) there would have been a better feeling around the club!
As posted above, NO club at level or in any sport should have anything to do with him!

This comes back to previous comments around the age and the day job of the semi pro in question, e.g. 18/22 or so on a min wage job who’s say at Buckland, Willand etc then you’d jump at the chance of a chance at a pro club, BUT say you are 22+ and have started a career job / trade then you may be less inclined, even less so if your non league is one of those with a bigger budget. Ethan Archer from Three Bridges (Isthmian 1) I can imagine would come far more cheaply than Ollie Pearce.

Re a couple of posts above, I’m sure the Worthing players are on far more than £100 a game, given their crowds over the last couple of years and local backers etc. There’ll be plenty of Southern / Isthmian league players on that and more.
I would think (my opinion with no evidence) that for Worthing’s star man it’s more likely £200 / £300 per game, so add that to his normal job we really have no chance.
Our chance of getting players like that would be if we were in the top two and the player thought my moving to us they’d be playing NL next year with a move to the EFL at some point, with us (not likely for a while) or another club.

I’ve never liked the title of Gaffer, reminds of Bill Maynard in the comedy series. When interviewing him, we shouldn’t be pandering to his ego and referring to him by that title!
Just a personal opinion, mini rant over!

I agree with York Gull!
Gary, they are your players etc…. If you can’t turn it around, please do the decent thing and leave, let’s face it you’ve been trying for several weeks to turn it around! You’ve had a decent managerial career with several promotions on your CV, surely you can’t need the money? I’m afraid you are taking it under false pretences!
