Halifax might be a case of watch this space for us. Calderdale council, the owners of The Shay are looking to sell it to rise funds and while they say they would like the Football and rugby league clubs to take it on there is no knowing what will happen if either club cannot afford it.

No chance, he'll still be here on the final day. The only thing that might get rid of him is a sizeable and continuous fall in attendances as the season progresses, but other than that he is fire proof.

Last year Johnson said he wanted to emulate the likes of Neil Warnock and Roy Hodgson and carry on into his 70s. Now that IS dispiriting.JimNichol'sdog wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 14:24 Johnson saying that he will 'see the job out' must be the most dispiriting four words that anyone has so far uttered in 2024.

Eastbourne were easily the worst side I've seen us play this season but given that they now start under a new manager and a dead cat bounce is possible especially since we are so badly weakened by injuries.

So basically we should just settle for what we've got. What's the point, it's not working out under Johnson time to roll the dice. None of the recent posters said a new manager would bring instant success but we've got to try something different or the club will just stagnate. The Eternal Optimist wrote: ↑03 Jan 2024, 17:25 It sounds as though some Torquay fans will expect any new manager to get instant success. In other words promotion in the first season. If he doesn't achieve that, he will be subjected to the same treatment that Johnson is getting now. Fans won't wait for him to recruit all those players who are going to get us promotion out of this league. All managers here have struggled to recruit the players they really wanted, because we are too far away etc - we've heard this complaint from nearly all our managers for years. So how long will it take for any new manager to get the team he wants in his first season? It won't happen. As I've said before Torquay fans need to get real.
Think Owers, it didn't take long for him to become unpopular. Who knows, given time, ie. two or three seasons, he may have achieved something here - we'll never know.

A new manager may not guarantee succes but his appointment would be an indication that the board regard the current situation as unacceptable.

A Message for Ross Marshall
Contrary to what some have said hurling abuse is not a latter day phenomenon.
I can remember in the 1970s certain players being picked on by the mini stand faithful.
Also attacks on emergency workers have been going on for decades certainly since the 1980s. Doesn't make it acceptable but its nothing new.
Fans mouthing off is part and parcel of the game, the players should be man enough to ignore it, they don't need to be treated like powder puffs.

At the beginning of this season that result would have been unimaginable. No excuses we aren't going up this season.
