Chippenham v Torquay Tue 23rd

Quite correct but it is GJ’s fault we have no one who can bloody finish in front of goal. Poor recruitment and useless loanees !

He is past his sell by date and won’t but out grateful. Good to see the gaffer acknowledge the fans ….. maybe only the positive ones !

I’m not knocking the lad and wish him all the best, I’m merely stating that we haven’t addressed the hearing issue with replacing Jarvis and sign another midfield player.

I hope Ethon proves to be a great asset but based on GJ’s past history on but giving youngsters a chance I doubt there will much fame time in offer !

Is this the level of player we attract ? I hope this young man proves to be a star but swooping into the Isthmian league got talent is a sad reflection on the state of the club

Torquay United v Yeovil Town, Tues 7th Nov, 7:45pm

Poor performance tonight, plenty for me to ponder on the 80 mile drive home !

Yeovil were well drilled played it simple, retained possession, and then seized opportunities whilst TUFC were without structure, played the long ball (blind panic ball more like) and looked out of their depth and a bunch of strangers at times !

Just look at the options Yeovil had up front, replace Murphy with Hyde, whilst we have nothing on the bench, no striker no Centre half, a new signing from a club two leagues below us !!! It’s a bloody shambles !!!!

So what will change ….. nothing as GJ will claim the squad is good enough, his brother the chief scout will bring on board no one of any substance or quality. It’s embarrassing to see the plight of my club the one I have followed for over 50 years.

A fresh pair of eyes is needed or a complete overhaul of the squad but I guess I can but dream !

I wouldn’t call his interactions with fans as particularly positive.

His answers if you can call them that were of a man cornered and wanting to disappear. There is no respect for the club and the fans from this puppet and the puppet master. They aren’t football people just property speculators with eyes on the development of Plainmoor

desperado wrote: 25 Oct 2023, 08:38 Some of them put in the effort , some don't, can't fault the workrate of Donnelan, Jarvis, Lapslie for instance but you can't have a midfield with the luxury of McGavin. You can't have a bloke sitting in front of the back four thinking he's Pirlo , trotting around playing the odd little pass or through ball.
Stobbs doesn't look interested any more, there's just nothing in midfield, Hall is finished.
The midfield is non existent regarding personnel, energy, options and movement which is why the back four tap it around themselves , then end up hoofing it long up to Jarvis.
I agree with the above and in fact met an Oldham fan a while back who said the Stobbs gets disinterested very quickly … spot on !

A weak squad brought together by a has been manager, who will not resign or get sacked due to his arrogance and being so entrenched with the chairman and CEO

We will be stuck with GJ until he decides to retire. His behaviour and attitude continues to alienate fans but he doesn’t care as long as he gets paid “ happy days”

The toxic atmosphere will continue but nothing will change. I hear there is a fans forum soon with Dodgy Clarke due to attend but bet it will be a damp squib !

If there is a crumb of comfort from last night a number of WSM fans I know said it was their best performance of the season 🤔

Nothing like walking to an away game which is what I will be doing ! I’m told that fans will have access to the main bar at WSM but we shall see. Nearest pub is as mentioned the Walnut Tree.

Prediction 1-1

Torquay United v Maidstone Sat 14 Oct KO 3pm

I’ve said it before the squad is paper thin with a glaring issue of being unbalanced. No replacement CB so Moxey has to play there, no additional Striker at all so our two guys have to play every game.

I do wonder what Pete Johnson brings to the club maybe his expenses invoice ???

Yet again we hear from GJ that some players aren’t up to performing for the full 90, this has been stated before so why are they still featuring !

As I left I uttered the word “Shambles” to the dugout and the only reaction was from Downes who glared at me !

The club is a rudderless ship, with no sense of its current plight and potential demise. I read about this George Edwards geezer being CEO, I won’t know him if he sat in my seat in Bristows. You don’t run a business by adopting the mushroom method of management.

Frustration is an understatement but win the next three games and all will be rosey …… hmmmm dream on

Torquay United v Maidstone United, Saturday 7th October, 3pm

A fairly dreadful performance yesterday, especially the first half with the team looking better after the break and did create the best chances to score but didn’t take them.

They looked scared/spooked by the physical presence of the Maidstone team who were big. Challenges bottled, panicked when on the ball.

The sending off I initially thought was harsh but actually was the right decision. Marshall is an accident waiting to happen and this was so yesterday. Put in a bad position by our idiot right back he totally messed up.

The club is in a mess, the squad paper thin, it’s criminal not having a striking option on the bench, and as said when u look at the squad/bench it doesn’t fill you with much hope. I’m told that Dawson is unreliable and just milks the club he is at for his wage once under contract and also like a bit of a “Toney” if you catch my drift !!!

I actually feel slightly sorry for GJ, the team just don’t seem to do as he hopes but I do think he has passed his sell by date however is sooooo entrenched in the club he isn’t gonna get removed and will continue to be paid his £3k a week

Thought the officials were poor yesterday and the Maidstone boss was out of order in his theatrics towards a few in Bristows Bench, using foul language towards them.

Didn’t see the issue on Pop side as I left on the whistle so guess things are turning toxic again.

A big chunk of realism is now kicking in and the best I see is scrapping into a play off place this season

Aveley F C vs Torquay United Sat 2 Sept KO 3pm

Shambles springs to mind regarding todays non performance !

This constant wishing for the messiah like return of Dawson and Hall is quite sad as both I believe are weeks if not months away from being available

Then there is the loan market where if sure we will pick up an experienced Centre half and midfielder but the again we seem to bring in youthful inexperienced players bar Mark Ellis last year.

Don’t get me started on Downes as whilst he was a quality defender his coaching ability is clearly lacking as we seem to have a naive back four.

Should we now look at a fresh start ?? With the current incumbents running the club that ain’t gonna happen so we are stuck with Laurel and Hardy

Torquay v Chippenham Town 15/08/23 19:45

I wondered whether those saying it was a terrible game last night were actually there ??? I thought it was 100 times a better performance by us. Chippenham weren’t as good as Worthing but still a test.

Plus points were:

4-4-2

Ross Marshall - I’ve been a critic of him but he did well bst the odd loose cannon moment … the barging their No 4 was needless

Ash/Jarvis - they look to link up now

Negatives

Injuries !!!!
No back up forward on bench
Floodlight - naff
Lack of confidence in defence

Let’s hope things continue on the upward trend and maybe sone loans of experienced CB/CM ?

Taelee73 wrote: 14 Aug 2023, 21:02 Agree, all booing, name calling does is destroy any remaining confidence. Players won't want to try anything inventive as they'll get destroyed if it doesn't come off.

I sometimes dispair at the mentality of some supporters, a toxic atmosphere will only produce an even poorer performance.

At the final whistle by all means voice your feelings but get behind them (mistakes and all) until the games over.

Hopefully a response to Saturday, although an early goal for them could spell disaster.

3-1. 1,750 in attendance.
Question - what creates the toxic atmosphere ? Surely it’s the ineptitude of the players and management so if they haven’t got the b#lls to accept criticism or in fact just bloody ignore it then they have no backbone !

I will as ever be making the 150 mile round trip tomorrow in the vain hope that there is a performance worthy of appreciation

Dave wrote: 12 Aug 2023, 20:08 Well, were do we start, deliberately gave myself time to calm down, not post in an angry state. I aired in my opinion that 3-5-2 doesn't work with the players we've got during pre-season, also stated I thought an injury and a suspension to a couple of key players and we'd be an ordinary team, well no Lapslie even in the squad today, so I'm guessing he's only managed 1 game before injury, and boy did it show.

What's more embarrassing than that pathetic, spineless performance that saw us barely string two passes together all game , and personally I don't remember a shot on target prior to the 85th minute, or the fact that Gary Johnson didn't do what any man, with any honour would have done after that game and announce his resignation, for the sanity of us all, maybe even the future of our club, someone grow a pair and get rid of this , arrogant, stubborn man, and he's coward as as well, doesn't he just love to run and hide leaving Downes and players to face the flack.

We're playing with three centre backs, one who should be in midfield, and two youngsters, playing three at the back and flooding numbers forward when you have no pace in midfield, suicide, Stobbs and Collins two potent and dangerous wide forward players being used as wing backs , Hall who probably cost a huge chunk of the budget should have retired, or been released, and no back up striker, this is all down to GJ, am I the only who can see the stupidity of all this, at least give a fighting chance by putting out a balanced , organised team, with the players we have available I'd be looking at 4-2-3-1, not saying that would work, however Stobbs, Collins would have more freedom, and the two deep laying midfielders can give some protection to our weak back four. Today I felt truly sorry for Halstead, he stopped this from being a total massacre, and the only player who should be having the day off tomorrow.

To our new found friends from Worthing, I really do think you took a lot of the pre-match posting out of context, however, feel a great sense of pride in your team and manager, came with areal plan executed it very well, your passing and movement off the ball was first class, add a little more quality and take our keeper out of today equation and you'd have won by a much bigger margin.
Good posting covering off todays shambles

GJ won’t walk or be pushed he is toooo entrenched and smug. Downes is a waste of space too.

So the squad and management had a lengthy post game talk …. Actions speak louder than words so let’s see wot Tuesday brings !

Dover Athletic v Torquay United - 3pm 5th Aug

I agree with the majority of the comments from those who were at the game. Good start rubbish finish !

Fair play to Dover for a thrown together squad they ran their socks off, out muscled us at times and deserved the draw.

We need a decent CB as Donnellan is not the answer and is a liability. McGavin produced another inept performance as well.

A 4/10 performance I feel and lessons needed to be learnt and quick. On the upside finding a local establishment not too far from the ground with a Sat happy hour from 11 to 1 was a bonus

Let’s see where we are at the end of August before the moaning starts ……
